I'm not new here but I'm a hog lurker.
I want a sigma 150-600 sport Who else likes this lens. I'm "in the market for" for Canon 70D btw
Welcome out of the lurking.
Welcome, also out of lurking.
I have read some favourable articles on the lens, but no experience with it.

I bought one last September to give me some flexibility, as I already own a 600mmF4. Of all the 150-600s out there, it is the best of the bunch, though the Tamron G2 is in the same league. You may want to try both. Build quality and dust/moisture sealing may be better on the Sigma, but it is also heavier.
I do have the 150-600C, it is an wonderful lens, but heavy.
You will need something to support the camera and lens.
A tripod that will support at least 1 1/2 times the total weight of the lens and camera. I do also suggest a gimbal to mount on the tripod.
Go for it.

I think the OP inquired about the Sport, not the Contemporary.

I realize that Jim Bob, but my advice/concern was weight. I have used the sport (it is great) and it is even heavier than the contemporary.
Welcome to the forum Jack. I own a sport and use it on a Nikon D7200 and yes, it is heavy. I usually have it on a Movo gimbal head on a heavy duty Benro (44lb weight capacity) Tripod or a Manfrotto fluid head to use it. I'm not saying it can't be hand held, it can for short periods. I'm 71 and at my age I need the help, this is not the lens I schlep around the woods for long periods, it's just not practical. For that I have a 55-300mm DX lens that's a lot lighter. As far a shooting it's an excellent lens. I've used faster lenses but this is more than adequate for what I use it for. I was able to purchase mine used in excellent, like new, condition for about the same price as a new Tamron G2 so look around you may find a good bargain.
Thanks all. I appreciate the great answers everyone always has.
I have this lens and love the pics it produces with my Nikon D800e. It is a heavy lens so an appropriate tripod and gimbal are necessary.
I have both Sigma 150-600 lenses, the Contemporary in Nikon mount and the Sport in Canon mount.
The Sport is a 6 pounds lens. You may be able to shoot it handheld, but possibly not for long. The Contemporary model is around half the weight and easy to hand hold.
I like both lenses. Image quality is pretty similar, the Sport maybe a teeny tiny bit better. The advantage of the Sport is its weather sealing. It keeps moisture and dust out, so if you do a lot of shooting in evil environments like the beach or tidal basins or Sandy, dusty, dirty places, or where it is very moist, get the Sport.
Of course I wouldn't recomended taking a 70D into most of those environments; an 80D or a 7D II or any newer 1D series bodies yes, but the 70D is no where near as well sealed as the others I mentioned.
If you're not going into the wild green yonder to take pics, save yourself some cash and get the Contemporary model and use the savings to get that 70D you want.

FYI - ignore any tripod recommendations that use load capacity as a criterium. Visit the RRS website for guidance on what role load capacity plays with regards to stability (hint - none whatsoever) and download and review the Gitzo catalog - which rates their tripods for lens focal length - again, no reference to load capacity.
The Sigma Sport does weigh 6.3 lbs, but it is still light enough for this 65 yr old to hold and get decent pictures with. Your mileage may (and probably will) vary.
