It is probably a browser cookie issue. Do you block all cookies? Maybe try clearing out your cookies, the UHH cookie may be corrupt.

Don't forget mobil for on the go & phone . I believe it wasn't mentioned. If you want to get some pics up on the web quickly. Comes with CC only.

I'm starting to really like LR Mobile. After I import, I do a quick set of based adjustments, sync to all the pictures and then put them all in a collection I sync with LR mobile. Then, from anywhere I want, I can review and rate to choose the best ones when I get back to my computer.

I save images for Instagram to a folder in Google Drive or Dropbox. From there I download them to my phone a post. I like that as I can see what the colors look like on my phone. I can also easily text the images to people that way.

You can add metadata, including Comments to images. For Raw, they go in the sidecar file. With LR, you need to write back the metadata to the file else it is only in the database.

Now I recently say a photo journalist using some on-camera tool with a microphone to take notes. He took a shot of a subject, asked questions and the spoke the answer into the microphone mounted on his hot shoe. Cool, but I didn't ask what he was using for it.

I can't unsee the mental image of squirrels having sex in a computer file system, but it is worth the laugh.

Not helpful, but I hope you had backups. I format my backup media so I can read it on a Mac or PC. I don't like the way Windows is more sneaky about when the backups happen; I need to pay closer attention. The update messed up my mouse, but apparently it could have been worse.

They will run out of numbering options, right?

Dx is pro
Dxxx is high end
Dxxxx is slights less

So, if D950 increases, it will be the D1050 and that wouldn't make sense.

I think all will say manual so you have control. You may want just the subject in focus, so you needs to control aperture. They need to be sharp, so you need to control shutter with that. Anything with automatic functions may guess wrong.

At a minimum, I'd say Aperture priority to control depth of field. Then watch shutter speed and adjust ISO to go with it. If you have time, M and meter for the mood you want.

For what you may want, an auto mode may be good enough. Go out to dinner before and play around with your camera in low light to see.

What is evil about doing exactly what they say? I understand you want your money back, but that makes a company evil? Evil is like Uber who treat their employees bad or push others down just to push them down.

Adobe is actually the opposite of evil if you look a their culture and how they both treat their employees and the community.

There are some good videos out there on managing your LR catalogue.

Second question first - no, don't delete. But, you probably don't want them on the cloud storage.
LR stores your images on your local hard drives and then creates a database index. If you delete the file from your computer... it is gone and LR will just have the metadata about it. The files live unaltered on your hard drive.
You may be syncing all of your files to the cloud. That enables things like mobile apps and sharing. I think this is done with collections and you can be more selective about that.

First question - yes, boosting things in LR will introduce some noise. Boosting shadows adds more noise there. Sharpening will add some, but you can increase the mask to only sharpen areas you want. Noise reduction will help bring that down. Kind of an art to it, but it isn't too bad.

This is nearly like the Canon or Nikon debate.

Is it worth it? It depends.

Buy the old version? If you have an old enough camera and don't want any updates (I really like dehaze and the updated lens profiles).

Subscription? You get more than just LR including PS and the mobile app which is really growing on me. The updates have been very nice.

Originally I thought I would save buy buying LR6 one time and using it for years. Well, technology moves so fast that it got stale faster than I expected and I was looking at needing to buy again. I've also used GIMP and many of the other options. They work fine but have a sizable learning curve. I've found a lot more good tutorials on LR+PS than the other tools out there. If you are already a polished digital editor, you can learn them ok. If not, it is good to have a community you can ask for help.

Really doesn't make sense to get it without the auto updates. The price is right and I can write it off at the end of the year as operating expenses, a win-win ! At $120 I think it's a bargain.

I'm the first one who doesn't like overpaying for things, and I don't like paying for software at all. Time is a valuable resource to me, and the Adobe CC suite does save me time while enjoying the time I do spend on my digital workflow. So, I tend to agree that it is a good deal. I went from the pay one time version to subscription, and I already see the value in the regular updates. I think there are occasional discounts out there too.

I'd guess the price difference comes down to one is for a 12 month subscription with updates and the other is for that software as long as you want it without updates.
