Having finally convinced myself to rely fully on Affinity, I contacted Adobe and cancelled CC. They charged me 50% of the balance on the yearly renewal but canceled immediately. I still had four months, so I paid for two more months. Outrageous, but typical Adobe behavior.

Did they not spell that out when you first got sucked in?

Gee, sounds exactly like the terms spelled out in the plan right?

I looked at Affinity, but opted to remain with Lightroom and Photoshop myself

Not sure if Affinity has improved since I looked at it

What is evil about doing exactly what they say? I understand you want your money back, but that makes a company evil? Evil is like Uber who treat their employees bad or push others down just to push them down.

Adobe is actually the opposite of evil if you look a their culture and how they both treat their employees and the community.

Exactly, the devil, as they say, is in the details.

Should you have waited for the end of your contract?

So that $9.99 is actually an annual charge of $119.88, whether you want it or not?!

"10.1 Termination by You. You may stop using the Services at any time. Termination of your account does not relieve you of any obligation to pay any outstanding fees."

"...any outstanding fees" sounds like something you owe them - something you should have paid, but didn't. It doesn't say you have to pay 50% of the rest of the year.

When you do not read your contract, don't whine. You complain about $9.99 per month which gives you three programs which are continuously updated. Stick with one program, learn it, and you can have time to take pictures.

That is my understanding. It's an annual fee; they let you pay it monthly.

That's exactly what they call it. There are two choices when you go to purchase.

Creative Cloud Photography plan 
Annual plan, paid monthly

Creative Cloud Photography plan 
Annual plan, prepaid

Here is the correct quote Jerry, yes it does say 50%

"Annual contract, paid monthly
Service begins as soon as your initial payment is processed. You’ll be charged the rate stated at the time of purchase, plus applicable taxes (such as value added tax when the stated rate doesn’t include VAT), every month for the duration of your annual contract. If the applicable VAT rate (or other included tax or duty) changes during your one-year term, the tax-inclusive price will adjust accordingly. Your contract will renew automatically, on your annual renewal date, until you cancel. Renewal rates are subject to change, but we’ll always notify you beforehand. If you cancel within 14 days of your order, you’ll be fully refunded. Should you cancel after 14 days, you’ll be charged 50% of your remaining contract obligation and your service will continue until the end of that month’s billing period. Cancellations can be made any time by visiting your Manage Account page or by contacting Customer Support in your region."

Now, if you want to talk about an evil empire, let's talk about Comcast Cable!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ain't that the truth!

I like when they promise a subscription rate good for a year, and 2 weeks later raise the equipment rental charge and claim it has nothing to do with the subscription rate. The last time they did that I bought my own modem instead of paying a rental of $10/month. I also cancelled the phone and bought a Majic Jack. That was $39 the first year including equipment and $20/year for the next 5. And it uses the same Comcast infrastructure. I hate when companies try to scam me.

So, Affinity is so good that you just could not wait to get off Adobe? It never ceases to amaze me how irrational people get on UHH over the Adobe CC plan and the idea forking out the cost of lunch at McDonalds each month for world class software that outperforms everything else in the market.
