I say no; get lightroom 6 which you buy outright like any other software on the market. The licensing allows you to put it on two computers. It sells for $142.95 and in jsut over a year you are ahead of the game of the extortion fees from Adobe. NOw to add insult to injury, you have to commit to one year of rental.

Yes, because you get both Lightroom and Photoshop and you can load it on more than one computer. I currently have it on both my desktop and my laptop as well as on my iPad.

If you will only use Lightroom but it outright. If you plan on wanting to Photoshop, the combo price
online for ten bucks a month is worth getting access to both. You can put it on two computers plus
a mobile device I believe. I have the subscription and it's worth it to me to have both as I learn.
I am not a pro, and the will chime in here too. I use Lightroom the most by far.

For what it is worth, there are features included in the CC (subscription version) that are not included in LR6.
The pattern appears to be that the CC version is where most, if not all, of the improvements will be found.

Yes, and yes.

The subscription includes Photoshop. You will discover that LR has it's limitations as a parametric editor. It cannot do the pixel-level editing, masking, layering, compositing and other things that would take an LR-generated proof image to a truly finished state. I will likely get some opposing opinions on this, but no professional I know of presents their LR images as final finished images.

I run PS/LR on a laptop and a desktop computer, and LR mobile on a tablet. One license covers it all without having to de-authorize and re-authorize installations.

The perpetual license of LR is already different and diminished from the CC version. There is no doubt that CC, with it's considerably larger customer base, will get the bulk of attention when it comes to improvements and new features.

No one who is serious about spending money wisely would make the mistake of buying a dead-ended product like LR 6 standalone. The cost is greater than 13 months of PS/LR and it isn't even as complete. There is a good chance that LR6 will be updated, in which case you may have to purchase an upgrade, if they decide to offer it. With LRCC, you get it automatically, at no extra charge.

I would just get LR6 and a program like Affinity Photo, both for less than $200. Affinity Photo, ($50), gives free updates to the current version and is very similar to Photoshop.

Yes it is most def worth it. I have Creative Cloud installed on 3 computers, 1 Desktop and 2 Laptops. When leaving for a trip, whatever laptop I am taking I log onto CC and "activate" the installation on the laptop. Usually I have to tell the dialogue box to log me out of whatever system it thinks is active. Once back, I make sure the Desktop is activated and go from there.

Simple answer is yes the $9.99 is well worth the expenditure. You get the current version of Lightroom and current version of Photoshop, plus Adobe Bridge and Adobe Camera RAW. It also gives you access to the Adobe Cloud which includes (2gb I think) of cloud storage. Now this storage allows you to upload images from one of your computers (say a laptop) and then download them to a second computer (say a more powerful desktop or tower computer). You can have the Adobe Cloud (your subscription) installed on any number of computers but you can ONLY be logged into 2 computers at one time under the $9.99 subscription. I have the package installed on 2 desktops and 2 laptops. If I am traveling, I just need to log out of my "home" computer so that I can log into that 3rd or 4th computer. If you forget to log out, it isn't a big deal, the Adobe Log-in will tell you that you are already logged into 2 machines and ask you if you want it to log you out. IF you answer YES, then it will disconnect the first 2 machines and continue to log you in. Now, if someone is going to use one of the computers back home, they can just re-log in. Just remember that you can have ANY number participate on the Basic membership but ONLY 2 can be logged in at any given time. By the way, each computer maintains it separate image files unless you have all on a particular server. For instance, I have an image library on my desktop computer, the wife has a library on her "G" drive which is actually a separate 4tb drive shared out on my desktop, and the 2 laptops each use a 1TB external USB drive to save their images. I also have a Western Digital Cloud Drive that I copy everything to when traveling so that I have a secure backup that is at home in case of an emergency. I can upload images from the hotel/motel room (or a restaurant, or other location) by using the local Wi-Fi hot spot.

Check out Capture One Pro 10. A steeper learning curve but well worth it in the long run. Use it on two computers. One-off payment, no subscription.

First, I can not be considered a pro, but I think so, I started out in early 2000s with Photoshop Elements 2, then upgraded several times at about $80 a pop before subscribing to LR/PS. Every upgrade seemed to forget previous file organization settings requiring additional messing with existing photos after upgrading. Now upgrades are painless and I have access to the full blown version of PS. I am very pleased. But if you are starting out, there is a learning curve for each. You should plan to get training before jumping in. I bought and recommend the Laura Shoe trading videos.

Yup...constant manipulation to make us pay to play. And the service from the Philippines if you can get it, sucks big time.

However $9.99/mo also gets you Photoshop so the $142.00 comment is misleading.
