I have a SONY NEX 5T which I love. It has now been discontinued (upgraded) but any of the SONY mirrorless cameras are probably worth having. The A6000 for example would be the ideal camera for me. I want a lightweight, fully functioned, high quality camera and the SONY Alpha NEX series is all of that plus it is capable of taking sports (moving objects) photos The newer models have dropped the NEX part of their name and now just uses Alpha.

I am pretty new to this level of photography but I studied up on which camera to buy for months in advance and from that I chose the SONY mirrorless line. Everything I have seen and studied since about these types of cameras has convinced me that I made the right choice.

It's worth mentioning that I had to learn about this camera from the level of a beginner and after buying everything I could find on the subject of operating this camera I found Friedman Archives and bought his course for something like $19.95. I can't say enough good about his course. It's in depth but written in a manner that makes it easy to learn. He doesn't just teach you how to operate the camera but how to take pictures with it and get the results you want. He also has tons of links to related articles and websites for these cameras. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately I don't know what that means. Sorry about that. I am pretty new to all of this so hopefully you can explain it to me.

Do you have to use an adapter for the hot show to use the Yonguo?

I want to buy a flash for my SONY NEX 5T but I would like to find one suitable for less than what the cost of the factory flash is. So far I have looked at the Altura Photo Speedlite and the Yonguo unit.

I also need to know if either of these will need an additional hot shoe adapter and which one I will need.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Getting the travel guide online is very the most important thing I think. Then plan out your stops and especially where to get gasoline and eat. My favorite place to stay is the lovely B&B The Maple Leaf or Maple Tree Inn (I forget which) in Kosciusko, MS. My favorite spots for photos are the bridge at highway 96 on the Nashville end of the Trace, an over look near Hoewenwald, TN and the Tennessee River but there are tons of nice places. There should be a photo book done of the Trace but I have never seen one.

I've never had a problem and I live here (and ride my motorcycle fast) but the speed laws are supposedly pretty heavily enforced. Whoever recommended eating at the Loveless Motel is steering you right. It's wonderful. Especially for breakfast. Natchez itself is really nice. Lots of interesting places to visit and eat and the town itself is just lovely.

The Samsung S5 is the winner in this group. First time I took a picture with mine it kind of shocked at how good it was for a cell phone.

For me the Sony wins primarily due to it's size, weight and cost. it also as a ton of unique and useful features.

No surprise to me. This is just another example of the Democratic Party being anti-America, anti-Americans as well as anti Jew and anti-Israel. Black Americans should pay attention to this. The Democrats use to court the Jewish voters but once they no longer valuable to them politically they turned on Israel and the Jewish people.

People don't seem to understand that climate change does not necessarily mean "warming" globally, but rather more extreme weather events. Climate change obviously was happening even before God created humans four thousand and whatever years ago, but it does not follow from that that anthropogenic climate effects are not possible. That's a bit like saying that humans can't cause forest fires because there were forest fires before matches were invented.

I can understand conservatives feeling comfortable about denying the possibility of anthropogenic climate change when brought up by the mentally deficient libtards and their lapdog scientists, but when US military planners start recommending major revision to US strategic planning based on the coming disruption of the worldwide social structure due to climate change effects and the RAND Corporation predicts that climate change will, in the future, pose a much greater threat to the United States than international terrorism, one thinks that they might just turn down Rush a little and do some independent evaluation of the reasons for those concerns.

I am for any sort of rational study on global warming. I don't say it doesn't exist but I am convinced it is more of a political means of control and a way to extort more money from us than a real threat. It's supporters would have us destroy the United States as a means of dealing with global warming. If they would come up with a better solutions I could get much more interested in the subject.

Gore and his fellow investors and friends made a fortune off of the global warming scare. Now that their bank accounts are filled with taxpayer money you no longer hear from them. Take it from someone from Gore's home state when we tell you that Gore is a mega corrupt slime-ball. He lost his presidential election because he couldn't carry Tennessee. Around here we know him to well. We loved his father but we know full well that Al is a scumbag.

I am not sure why global warming advocates continue to believe in it since support for that argument is falling apart. Not even NASA believes in it anymore.

The other thing that worries me is some sort of nuclear war is much more eminent than global warming but liberals refuse to be concerned about that and often resist the U.S. or anyone else for that matter trying to do anything about it. You'd think that anyone concerned about the planet would be near hysteria about all of the nuclear weapons there are around the planet and many of them in the hands of crazy people but not much resistance from the liberals. In fact, anytime there is talk of you getting serious about Iran the left will jump up and argue what we have no right to interfere in the internal affairs of another sovereign state. Apparently to them the psychopathic empire known as Iran is a real beacon of civilization and worthy of protection.

Anyhow, I saw this article this morning while I was looking for NASA's current opinion about global warming. It's very interesting. http://www.forbes.com/sites/peterferrara/2013/05/26/to-the-horror-of-global-warming-alarmists-global-cooling-is-here/

Hi, BKelly….welcome to the hog. You have some nice shots of your ride….In answer to your question, If you get to New Hampshire, Look North to Flume Gorge. It is well worth the drive.
Also, The seaport of Gloucester, Rockport and Ogunquit are definitely photogenic. We also went to the town of Lowell. This is where they have Boote Mills, with tours of the Mills….very interesting. Hope this helps. Oh, BTW, when you are in Boston, take the self-guided historical tour. You won't regret it…

Rich,

Thanks for all of the New England travel tips. We have all of those other than Lowel on our itinerary. I'll look Lowel up. What state is it in?

Keep I touch.

Best Wishes, Brian

No real plan. What happened was I got a new Samsung Galaxy S5 phone with a 16 MP camera in it and I was shocked at how good the pictures were from this camera. That really inspired me because now I could run around all over Middle Tennessee with a camera while riding my motorcycle. It made it so easy to take photos of the places I've always liked to ride to and relax. My first photos were weak compositionally and several professional photographers who are friends of mine helped get me pointed it the right direction and with some work and cropping on my pictures I turned stuff that I was not all that happy with into keepers. Once I had stuff that I actually felt good about I was pretty excited to learn more and take more pictures. So, as of last weekend I bought a Sony NEX 5T after reading up about suitable cameras for my purposes. More to follow.

One thing that is apparent form al of the replies and well wishes I've received is that this is a very welcoming and very enthusiastic group. I also belong to several motorcycle related forums and while they are all very good I don't ember any of them being so supportive of a new member. So, thanks to all of you. I look forward to participating here.
