I'm on the fence here. I shoot primarily landscapes and wildlife. This will be my first IC camera. Mirrorless OR DSLR? I'm not a professional, but want professional looking photos. Feedback please. My first post, by the way.

But, I've learned so much just from reading everyone else's post and replies. This forum is the best and everyone seems to be so polite, respectful and considerate. Don't get that often.

You will get very nice pictures out of just about anything these days, it depends on your needs and budget. Having recently acquired a D7100 my opinion may be a little biased but so far I am very pleased with it.

It's all about the EVF for a MILC (electronic viewfinder). If you like it, then the MILC is worth considering, but if it is not comfortable for you, then pass on that particular camera.

For all the good things written about the A6000, some here who like it do say that Sony took a step backwards with the EVF compared to the NEX-7. If that's true, it's quite unfortunate.

I just got the A6000 two days ago, it is nothing less than awesome, the auto focus is insane, blazing fast, Image quality is superb.

I still learning the camera, but very happy with it.

here are three sample shots with it from today shot in JPG using a Sigma Art DN 60mm 2.8 lens

Hot Texas, what are your thoughts and feelings about that EVF on your a6000, do you eyes feel ok using it so far?

There is nothing wrong with it, not as good as the NEX-6, A7r, but after 4 or 5 shots I don't miss it a bit, I forget all about it.

seam's it's bigger or maybe the layout inside is better, you can make it to where you feel like your inside the cockpit of a f22 fighter jet with all the settings  but I don't use all that, just some basic settings. I love the histogram in the viewfinder. The camera just nails the exposure.

Yes and you can use your cell phone or tablet as a remote and viewfinder :) The websites I was looking at said the a6000 has a better low noise at high iso than the D7100.

ya I don't usually use DXO ratings but I know a lot of people do. I think maybe we get to involved with the technical aspects of a camera than we do about the important issues of Photography. I remember back in the film only day we talked about composition, lighting and how to get the right shots and subjects. Back then it was about Photography, today the pendulum seems to have swung to the camera tech side. Hey, I could be wrong.....anyway, we should get back to the OP's question and I will stop talking. :)

Even DxOMark says the A6000 has slightly better high ISO performance than the D7100, so I'm not sure that this is a strike against them.

In the film days, people also talked about camera and film quality, among other things. The balance between tech and art has not changed on the image capture side. I think post processing is where things are more complicated, as that has changed more in general.

ya I will have to agree with you on the PP complications, maybe I should sell my copy of LR5, it's still in it's sealed unopened box :)
