I leave a spare SD card in my car; all I'll have to do is remember where I put it when I need it.

That's a ligitimate situation to ponder. EV cars ( the high-end stuff ) are impressive in aceleration because they produce their torque ratings almost immediately whereas gas engines lag behind in reaching their maximum torque. Running flat out for top speed is a differnt issue. Right now, the top speed for street cars is somwhere around 270 - 290 MPH in a Bugatti that producing around 1700 HP. There's a number of folks taking a shot at the top speed. It's far from a static field of contenders. Top speed comes from the aplication of power, gearing, and aerodynamics of the vehicle. I'm not sure that, in these cases, it matters whether the power comes from ev motors or gas engines. some one more knowledgeable than I am about these matters may want to chime in.

I'm waiting to see how many miles they can run at the 24 hour race at Le Mans; an hour of excitement, then lunch and a nap while the car gets recharged!

nice pictures and a beautiful car, but a nice 4x4 F-250 is much more useful!

A new gun-style camera mount has been announced lately on Indiegogo. The warranty on the mount is probably longer than your life expectancy while using it.

perhaps if it were orange or pink it might be OK, but certainly not black.

This is May 2023. Shoot a video on your camera, or if too hard to hold self-facing, do the same video on your phone. No additional equipment needed. 21st century cheap and easy.

since I don't do selfies,or videos for that matter, never crossed my mind; wasn't available until recently.

I do a good deal of traveling and take a good deal of photos for my artwork. A problem that I experience is that sometimes it's just impossible to remember precisely where the photo was taken and as I do architectural subjects that's a real inconvenience. I use my Olympus camera that's about 6-years old and I was considering a new Olympus camera since I have some very effective lenses for my purposes. But...Olympus doesn't seem to offer any camera that would permit me to use the lenses I have AND give metadata of a photo's location. Is there an easy method of addressing this issue that I'm not aware of other than taking cumbersome notes or also using my iPhone constantly to also photo a spot that WOULD log the location? Thanks for any help that might address this without my having to settle for a new camera that would be unnecessarily costly and not give me the use of my Olympus lenses.

Simply carry a small notepad and a pen; while at the site, write down whatever pertinent details you feel necessary to identify your photo. Then photograph the note with your camera. Later when processing the photos, add keywords and whatever else you need to the metadata. Cheap and simple.

I am going to a horse race soon and would like to try to get a photo with the horse sharp and the background in motion blur. Any hints on how to achieve this would be welcome.

I looked at my photos from Churchill Downs taken over the years, and found I typically shot around 1/250 to around 1/400; if you're looking for a blurred background from panning you will probably be around 1/125 to 1/250. Best shots will be of the horses approaching until they pass [about 10 o'clock position to 12 o'clock position when facing perpendicular to the track], and shoot in burst mode. Also shoot some at 1/1000 or 1/2000; nothing says speed like
dirt flying and a horse with all 4 hooves off the ground. Keep in mind there is more at the race track than just photographing the race itself. Walk around, shoot at the paddock, winner's circle, finish line if you can get there, handlers walking the horses before & after the races, crowd, etc.

I posted a shot on FB recently and a friend suggested it might look good in B&W. While I love B&W and have made quite a few shots into B&W, this particular shot had such nice tones in blue, rusty reds, and yellow that I felt it might not work as well for a B&W. I did make one and then also one in sepia to maintain some of the warmness of the color one. Lastly, I did a hybrid of the shot to give some color back. Here are the four shots -- what do you think?

I prefer the first one, followed by the last one.

My fascination and love for photography started when I was six years old. After watching my father develop negatives in our darkened bathroom in 1947, I ordered my first camera which cost 50 cents and a Wheaties box top. My Samoyed puppy; my baseball playing older brother; my first-grade neighbor with a cap pistol and anything else that moved got their picture taken. Seventy-five years later, I realize that I take far way too many pictures and should be FAR MORE selective before I press the shutter button. I now only take a picture of something if it is both pleasing to my eye and might be interesting or attractive to someone else viewing the image for the first time. When do you think someone should go ahead and take a picture of something? The attached image of a light fixture in my kitchen was taken with my Sony A7R4 with a 70-200 Sony telephoto lens set at F2.8; 1/2000 second shutter speed; and auto ISO. The unusual shaped globe being accentuated by the straight, shiny, brass bass and tightening screws was esthetically pleasing to my eye. Would you photograph it? Shooter41

SHOOT! Electrons are cheap and you can always delete it if you don't want it. I, too, occasionally take a picture of my kitchen light fixture, not because it's fascinating, but because I'm thinking of replacing it with something different.

I have used the original "Nikon" straps that came with my cameras, D40, D3500, D7100 and D600, purchased in that order. Since each one has gotten larger and heavier, including the corresponding lenses, I find my neck starts to really ache after shooting for a couple of hours. I tried going without a strap but get paranoid of dropping and damage. My last purchase of a 80-200 2.8 AF-D New to go on the D600, or even the D7100 convinced me I need to come up with alternative. I do use a tripod alot but love to hike into areas for that special look. Would like to hear opinions about shoulder straps or hand straps. I do use a quality back pack but would love to be camera ready to get that perfect shot of the bear that runs me down. Thank you.

Peak Designs makes shoulder straps, wrist straps, and anchor links, all using the same type of connectors to the camera. Seems an ideal solution. Just attach an anchor link to the front strap of your back pack and attach the camera there with the left side "button" when you need both hands, while leaving the wrist strap connected on the right button.

My backpack does not have a dedicated tripod holder. I've since downsized considerably to a new travel tripod. The only way to carry it is to place the foot end down into one of the side mesh pockets on the side and secure with the included strap lock on the top part. Is there anything I could put into the mesh pocket to prevent the tripod feet from snagging and tearing the mesh itself. I've done a lot of research but have not seen any products or suggestions on what might work. I appreciate in advance any suggestions the UHH community might have.

Fold a wash rag or towel around it before you put it in the side pocket. Or slip the tripod feet into a pair of extra socks.
