That feeling! I plan for an outing, plan out which cameras and lenses i am going to use. I get to the place that i planned for, see a scene, turn on the camera, and it says,
"No Card"

Once Ieft the house for a studio photo class with no SD card in my camera. I borrowed an extra one from a friend. It got a bit tricky as he had files on it and we use different brands of cameras. It worked out OK somehow.

Nope.
I have always kept the cards in my bag.
So if one is not in the camera ther are always 2 or 3 in the bag.
Always.

Not to me yet . . . .
However, I can say that I have made Other Huge Mistakes, Ouch!
They did not make me . . .

Done that, also, got to location, ready to shoot, no screen! (Battery at home charging!)

We were in Vegas and took a side trip to Zion National Park. As I pulled my camera out of my bag, I noticed I left the battery in the charger on the wall at the hotel! Thank goodness for cell phones, I was still able to get some photos! Now I always carry a spare battery. Lesson learned.

I have always kept cards in my bag (after I forgot to have one at an air show)

Yes, "No Card" has happened to me. Same with "No Battery".

Homer says it well.

Think creative Don... Oh dah, I recall money belts!! Their pocket is zipped to protect your money... the pocket is big enough for SD cards and a spare battery... thanks for making me think. $18 Amazon... just right for the small battery of a pocket-carry Superzoom 1" sensor camera. They are all we need with AI software; goodby DSLR.

That's why I like two card slots. I'll take one card out to copy pictures to the computer, but I still have one left.

The most important thing is to set the camera to take no pictures without a card present.

Never happened to me, never will.
I have cards that live in the camera(s).
My cameras are never "empty".

Not yet & not likely since I never remove the cards. I download directly from the camera & once I’ve backed them up, I erase the card & go on my merry way.

I always replace 1 card with another, and format the replacement at that time. I rotate the cards so I go through a few before today's card winds up back in a camera.

Nearly dead batteries is another story.
