A friend suggested my shot be converted to B&W

I posted a shot on FB recently and a friend suggested it might look good in B&W. While I love B&W and have made quite a few shots into B&W, this particular shot had such nice tones in blue, rusty reds, and yellow that I felt it might not work as well for a B&W. I did make one and then also one in sepia to maintain some of the warmness of the color one. Lastly, I did a hybrid of the shot to give some color back. Here are the four shots -- what do you think?

It is hard choosing, but I would go for the last.

All good in their way, I don't want the job of making sure all the bolts are tight.

As much as I'm drawn to sepia, the B/W version has a crisp, graphic quality that really stands out.

Like the hybrid the best. But also like original. Don't like sepia. B&w is ok but original and hybrid are better. But this is just one woman's opinion for whatever it's worth. Really like composition.

Nice! I chose the B&W!! Items/scenes that are metal seem to do well as B&W conversions and this scene proves that. I like all the lines and shapes. The lighting is nice, too, giving a few shadows but bouncing around to the inside giving us a good sense of depth.

I'm usually color but in this photo it's definitely b/w for me. Nothing brings out lines, shapes and shadows more than b/w. Good one

They are all great and pleasing to look at. Out of the three, the sepia is my least favorite; although if that's the only one you showed - I would say it looks great.

I like the first and last. It’s a really busy scene and for me, the color helps differentiate the individual subjects. It’s kind of hard to explain, but with the B&W, at first glance I see one busy image. With color, I see multiple separate images.

Either way, those are all great images.

I do not find the sepia as interesting as the other three images.

Great picture! to look at, let the eye wander around. I prefer the fourth composite version - because I do not like the yellow bannisters. I enjoy looking into the picture from the left and following the white railings down into the middle of the picture, but it does get a little confusing in the last set of vertical drops.
After that the eye is free to roam.

I find these compositions very hard to make a decision on since I like them all. If it were me I would consider displaying all of the pics with possible exception of the sepia pic. Your choice of composition is excellent.
