I was in northern Maine 25 years ago visiting Baxter, then on to New Brunswick and the Gaspe Peninsula. But, we were camping in June at the time, so this getaway will be cold! And it was so long ago, I don’t remember much of the area.

Lol. I am beginning to wish we were heading south instead. We rented snowmobiles and plan on x country and snowshoeing. Maybe a trip up to the border. This looks like it’s going to be a marathon week of exercise and COLD!

I think there is a gorge up in Canada on the border, too.

Heading up to Presque Isle for a week next month to enjoy some snow adventures. Are there any locals on this forum to recommend places of interest and great photo opportunities? We are driving from Massachusetts. Thanks!

Just got back from Monument Valley, and it was outstanding!!!! I have been to Acadia 4x and have always captured great photos. Just depends when you go, the weather, and the crowds!

I sold photography equipment on CL years back. The buyer put money in my paypal acct and sent a pre paid shipping label and tracking. We spoke on the phone. No problems, but in retrospect I think I under sold what I had! There was more risk on the buyers part than mine. Once I had the money, off went the product.

I was in Utah this past Fall and took amazing photos with my Nikon 5300 and 10-24 mm Nikon lens. You will love the diversity of landscapes in Utah! Enjoy!

Not sure how I feel about carrying a camera by a tripod screw. The Cotton Carrier may be right for me. My husband saw someone wearing the vest on our last trip and was impressed by it. I am the one carrying the camera. He carries my bag of accessories. So I am looking for comfort and ease of use.

Interesting replies. I will have to try it out and see what I think. And yes, I know what PP is.

I have never shot in raw format. Could someone simply explain the purpose of raw and how to do this? Thanks all.

After my recent vacation and carrying my Nikon D5300 camera on a strap around my neck, I think it’s time to get a harness chest carrier. I have been looking at the Cotton Carrier and at $120, it’s a bit steep. I am looking to carry just one camera.

I would use the harness for hiking, vacations, biking, and anytime I want to be hands and neck pain free. Hiking canyons two weeks ago was tough with my camera bouncing around, and I found myself holding it steady with one hand while around my neck.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

I didn’t expect quite the response I received. I was just thinking of upgrading to a newer model with a more usable menu.

Many years back I had an F2 that I used for over 20 years. However, technology is changing so rapidly today that using a camera for 20 years is laughable.

For 13 years I drove a Camry that I loved, but I didn’t realize what safety measures the car was lacking until I started researching newer vehicles. Technology changes quickly, and I want to stay up with the times.

That being said, I actually feel that my equipment is an investment. I use it for my business, and in addition, I capture lovely photos of my grands.

I will stay with DX format, take into account the advice received, and make a decision at some point. Thanks.

Hey everyone....I have had my 5300 for about 4 years. Thinking of upgrading and would like to continue using the 4 lenses I now have. Bought it as a kit, then added the 10-24 wide angle and the 35 mm.

Without breaking the bank, any suggestions on an upgrade? Another option is keeping the 5300 and upgrading the kit lenses. Thoughts appreciated.

I mostly photograph my grandkids, real estate photography and landscapes. Thank you!

After great review, I went with the Lowepro Flipside 400AW. Thanks all for your advice!
