turn off camera, take lens off then put it back on. It may be a connectivity issue with the lens to body. I have had several Tamrons do this to me, most recently a 70-200 f2.8 (I think) that I sent right back, also on a D750. A dedicated flash bounced should take care of eye issues.

Had to send my 750 (no recall) because the mirror started locking up at first shot, took another shot to make it work, it was having trouble recognizing faces, also my 28-300 wasn't consistent in being sharp, new shutter plus adjustments to the camera and parts ordered from Japan for the lens. All under warranty. All seems to be well but I haven't done a family shoot or anything yet. Glad they were warranted.

I looked on Amazon for a book to compliment my manual for the D750. The only book listed was by Busch for, get this, $2,500 new. Am I halusinating? Does anyone know where I can buy this book for reasonable price? His spiral bound field guide is $20. Is that a useful item? I would prefer the book.

Thanx in advance for help.

Pete

I like the Darrell Young book "Mastering the Nikon D750" about $30.00 very useful.

I had a 7000 and got the 7100, imo it was a much better camera, liked it tons better, that's just my experience, I really think my 7000 had some "bad copy" issues. I was never really happy with it. I since went full frame 750, still like shooting the 7100 though.

A plastic screen protector came with my new d610. However, when I use my big stopper neutral density filter the closed viewer piece that came with my camera will not fit if the screen protector is in place. My work around is to leave the screen protector in place and just use some dark tape to cover my viewer. Any other ideas that solve this issue?

I don't like Nikons plastic protectors- check this out - expert shield

That's my question...If I assign the focus on the back does my shutter button still lock the exposure?

yes the shutter button still locks wxposure. If I want to meter another area, I compose to that area, hold shutter button half way down to lock exposure, recompose and shoot. Of course lock focus with back button before hand. Simply take two extreme lighting situations and play with it.

thanks for the replies, it was just a general question. I watch the Old Faithful webcam so am familiar with the weather and have the phone number for road closings. The problem is I just got Xray back and the hip problem has increased enough that I may need to push this trip to next May and get a new hip fairly soon, I don't want to chance problems while on a major trip. The last injection helper 0%.

Curious about how much water may be flowing the first of Oct. All the pictures I've seen show a great volume of water, I'm guessing spring shots. Just curious, I'll probably be there regardless. Thanks

I am a new participant in UH (but have been reading the forums for a while) and this is my initial post. Have been a hobby shooter for 20+ years, now retired and want to up my game, including going for better equipment. Am a Nikon guy (have had the D7000 since it first came out), so looking hard at the Nikon D810, and wonder about the best lens for landscapes to use with that body. Of course, people will have different opinions about this, but I'll appreciate your thoughts. (Comments about a medium telephoto appreciated as well.)

I use the 16-35 f4, have the 24-120 f4 and the 28-300 all nikon, the 16-35 has threads for filters and is a great ultra wide. for wildlife I have the D7100 with a Sigma 500 and can use the 28 -300 on it also. I got into full frame reasonably "cheap" with my D750 going this route.

IMHO the 16-35mm would be most versatile. You can use front mounted filters (graduated N.D., or full N.D.) to control part of the scene; or to blur movement as in waterfalls. The other option is to use a longer lens, vertically, tripod mounted and expose multiple frames to stitch into a panorama.Either option would serve you well depending on your ability to post process images.

I use the 16-35 f4 and love it on my D750, using filters is a must for me (nd)

Do you use the camera manufacturer's charger on the Wasabi batteries?

I use Nikon charger for my Wasabi batt. and I tell no difference when using any of my batteries, Nikon or other. Have done this for several years

I must interject, even though you discounted lugging the big one around, you will probably wish that you had brought it,but only if the wildlife interests you!

I agree, the jury is still out on that. I may see how it packs, thanks

LOL! The 500mm was not part of our hikes! I usually carried an 18-140 and a 12-24 and sometimes a 70-200,depending on the trip. Much shooting was a short walk from the car and I had two cameras ready for whatever popped up.

Have fun! I've reservations again for fall 2017.

thanks!

My D7100 always puts the little white box around faces in review (playback) - My D750 not so much. It may get one or two once in a while. Is this something in my set-up? I thought it was sort of automatic. I'm talking multiple faces in a scene here. Thanks, I've checked around and don't find a real answer.
