Curious about how much water may be flowing the first of Oct. All the pictures I've seen show a great volume of water, I'm guessing spring shots. Just curious, I'll probably be there regardless. Thanks

Hi, I would say no problem with the water flow. You should check for road closing/dates. Enjoy.....

I would contact the park or national forest service... remember, California has been in a prolonged drought.

One problem. Yellowstone is in Wyoming. I have been there in Sept. and early Oct. and the water flow is plentiful. Patrick

OOPS... glossed over Yellowstone and saw the Y assuming Yosemite, and the lower falls there. Sooooo... never mind.

The decrease in volume at the falls will not really be noticed by us casual observers. If you follow the Yellowstone River or the Lamar River you will observe substantially lower water levels in many areas. The fall flow pales in comparison to the gushing of spring with the melting snow!

Some famous falls in US have web cams on them so you can monitor them, others have web sites you can check, many others allow you to call local rangers and get that info. I am sure if you contacted Yellowstone Park Office, they would be very happy to assist you and they may have additional information you may find helpful. A 30 second web site search turned up a General Yellowstone National Park info number 307-344-7381, I am sure if you called this number they could either know or put you in touch with someone who could help. Also there is the Yellowstone National Park Foundation site chuck full of interesting information.

So much water flows over the falls that you can't tell much difference. Weather will be your main concern. Remember Yellowstone is Wyoming high country and we have already had some snow. Weather and road conditions can play a big part in your trip.

I was there just last Friday (9-9) and there was plenty of water flowing over the Lower Falls. You should be OK.

I was there earlier today, the weather was a little brisk & cloudy but there was definitely a tremendous volume of water pouring over the falls! My first visit!
