When I take a picture the back screen and image on the card are both diagonally black from the upper right corner to the bottom left corner. 16,000 shutter activations which seems low for a problem that might require shutter replacement. Any suggestions other than a hammer? Thanks! Not sure how to look for your reply...new ti UHH.

Possibly a little off the subject, I have a D200 with 60,000 shutter activations and a D5100 with 16,000 and the D5100 needs a new shutter. Just sayin'. Thanks.

I respectfully suggest that, if the bride & groom like your samples well enough to book you, that you tell them how much time you need to produce them. If they tell you that you have 20 minutes on the wedding day tell them (with a pleasnt smile) that, of course, you need x minutes to create the images they want. In my experience you'll be given the time you need.

My weddings always started with the "meat & potatoes" necessaries and then during the reception asked the b&g if they wanted some of the portraits that made them choose me. The answer was usually yes & they willingly gave me the time I needed. I was very fast & when they said stop I did. More than 600 weddings photographed internationally.

A little off topic but I just had a thought that we don't have to worry about these magnificent creatures and others like them because Trump says there is no such thing as global warming.

Well done! Certainly not a critique but my thought...how would this look with well done HDR?

Your question is easy for me to answer. Taking pictures for 70 years, what (or should I say who) influenced me the most was Monte Zucker. I took classes of his and adopted his romantic style of wedding photography. This allowed me to photograph the social events of average folks like me and also the very very famous internationally. Now retired, my wife and I share our love of photography. Our membership in The Photographic Society of Philadelphia (1863) ), The Plastic Club(1860) and participating together in many competitions and exhibits is a blessing.

You might want to google Monte Zucker. He was a mentor of mine 40 years ago & I and many others consider him the best of the best. He brought many cinematography techniques to still portrature and his clear, common sense approach to portraiture guided me and many others to a successful careers.

The only thing that ever matters is the result. Good shot!

As a 45 year veteran of event photography I offer this...shooting with 2 1/4 film most of my career I shot portraits with a 150, groups and slow dancing with and portraits with a 50 (28mm ") and non group portraits with an 85mm. When I switched to digital (Nikon D200) I used their 18-200 zoom. Never had a problem up to 16x20 and never concerned about changing or having the wrong lens selected. This way I could concentrate on the action and not losing a shot because I had the wrong lens on the camera. I realized early on that it was more important to get the picture than that picture being technically perfect. My mantra that saved me well: "these are your pictures, not mine". I was blessed to photograph so many events, internationly, (about 1000) I know this approach served me well. Hope this insight is helpful.
