Just curious, in your photographic journey was there a time, situation, class, or experience etc. That you can look back on and say...wow I get that concept...and the light turned on in your creative mind to improve your shots. Sometimes as I am looking through my average everyday photos one will stand out and I have to step back and say to myself, wow that one turned out really well what was I thinking about or doing that helped bring it to life.

Workshop with Ansel Adams in 1972 in Yosemite. Very inspiring.

It started with a teacher in New York City that took an interest in me and his hobby was photography. He got me started and my parents bought me my first camera when I was 13. A Baby Brownie Special for $2.95. Same teacher developed his own film and made enlargements. He taught me that also. Never forget him.

No one thing stands out. I’ve been involved with photography since I was 4-1/2, when my uncle gave me a camera. There are many related milestones.

I'm the early sixties i bought my first Rollei twin reflex and a book by Fenninger on black and white photography. I then travelled as a teen all over Europe taking black and white photos and then processing them in my own lab. My photos gained recognition by some of Italy's top artists. Now that I have retired i shoot mostly nature on my Nikon D810

I get exactly what you are saying. Yes, several. Sadly I realize that too often I can't recreate the situation or conditions again. But the stories are too long for here.

Two excellent Nikon School weekend classes.
A high school physics teacher (with a great sense of humor) who taught me the Inverse Square rule about light.
An outstanding series of 1960-1970’s photography pamphlets from Kodak.
Developing b&w photos in a cramped basement darkroom with an inexpensive enlarger.
Using a Contax G1 with a 45mm f/2 lens to capture churches and missons of Tucson.

Working in a PIO darkroom in Danang, RVN, in 68/69. Worked with lots of pros, including Life magazine photographers.

My dad was a photographer. He did is "darkroom" in our 1 bathroom in a 2 bedroom apartment. My uncle was a photographer as well. I can't remember a time when there were no photos. My first camera was an Ansco. My flash used blue flash bulbs. My first "automatic" camera was a polaroid. I still remember the stink. I never had a "moment". It just was natural to take pictures.

My answer to your question would have nothing to do with cameras. I totally misread the intent of your question.
