Far more health benefits than most want to admit.

Most those living in darkages

NOT "Far" more benefits; "some" more benefits; FAR more disadvantages than advantages. It was illegal for so many years for a reason. Users don't have an objective view and should not be seen as good advocates. They are a "tail trying to wag the dog!"

Nothing wrong with the 18-270 ... other than a little lens creep ....

Oh, er ... the 18-400 is $649, Geezer ....

I have been looking at the Canon 100 - 400mm lens for birding. Now Tamron has the 18 - 400! I would like to see a thread on UHH with some downloaded photos using that lens!!! compared with the Canon 400mm or 100 - 400mm lenses. I know, the Canon lenses are faster but the price....

My adult daughter wants a new camera and has $1000 to spend. Wants a point and shoot with some reach, she is tired of changing lenses on the Canon camera she has and does not use it. Wants to photograph birds but not birds in flight. I know there are Canon cameras with 50X lenses but are there other brands with similar reach? Many thanks!

I have several very good bird photos that I took with my Canon T3i with a Tamron 18 - 270 lens. Tamrom now has a good 18 - 400mm lens for $600 something. That has me salivating!

Check the thread about the Tamron 16 - 300mm lens on today's date. You'll find it also informative.

It's a '51.

51 had oblong parking lights with pointed outer ends the lights in the OP are round. The OP is a 1950 model.

It's a 1950 model! I was 10 when that model came out, and, I just checked the photos of those years. Notice the round parking lights, 51 years, 52, and 53 all had oblong ones with pointed outer ends. Google those years. Also, I work in a business where identifying correct years of autos is critical. Happy New Year, everyone!

This is not the first unnecessary sarcastic banter I have seen on this group. I'm new as well and won't last long here if I should have to tolerate this childishness. Come on guys.

Don't give up! Answer with some good writing with good tone and heart. Make the small people see their smallness. There are several who contribute very acidic views of the world and other photographers. I find that i can ignore them without loosing any sleep at all. Stay friends at least with me---

Never heard of Tameron and Cannon....

Tameron is a lens maker of good repute. Canon is a manufacturer of many things including camera bodies, both video and still; point'n' shoot, bridge and dslr; AND some of the best camera lenses available. Nikon is Canon's strongest competitor, though many on UHH will argue Sony, Olympus, and Pentax are equally good. Watch UHH and you will get a good education in Photography. Enjoy!

Great shot. Would like to know if that is the Methusilla (sp) tree and what were your settings? I visited there recently and also shot Alabama Hills just south of the grove. Hope you had time to do that as well.

The Methuselah tree is not marked so that vandals won't target it. If you check out the site it will tell you a lot about the trees and their environs. Interesting place to visit.
