Lower Antelope Canyon. Oh, My...
A longtime dream of mine was finally realized. I went into Lower Antelope Canyon (Page, AZ) hoping to exit with one, two or three usable photos. What I got instead was a treasure of riches that I will mine for a lifetime. This is just a smattering.
When asked if she saw new things every day, our Navajo guide, Deja, replied, "Sometimes I see new things every hour."
I believe her.
Great photos. Thanks for posting. I have seen many photos of this canyon but none better than these. Like you, I have wanted to go for years. These photos may push me over the edge.
Great shots! On my to do list.

There is a risk. At the exit of the canyon stands a memorial to eleven souls who lost their lives in a flash flood 20 years ago, in 1997. The Navajo, who own the canyon, will shut it down at the first sign of rain. The #1 rule at the canyon is that you do whatever your Navajo guide says, no questions asked. Two days before we arrived, the canyon was closed to the forecast.

That's a high compliment, @photohelp. Thank you so very much! I have seen some terrific photos of this place, which inspired this trip. I now have some to call my own! And so far, with the shoot just yesterday, I've already counted 19 "keepers!"
A word of advice: Our guide said she had been there three years, and the swell of visitors has reached a level that's almost unsustainable. It may be that one will need reservations well in advance (we had reservations and still had to wait).
The good news is that a newly-discovered canyon (tentatively named Mystery Canyon) which, according to my source will outshine Antelope Canyon, may open in the not too distant future.
Incidentally, the Upper Antelope Canyon requires no climbing. Lower Antelope Canyon has narrow, ladders in five layers that one needs to navigate.
Gorgeous shots! Very inspiring.
Great when you expect one or two and you come back with a portfolio
Beautiful set, thanks for sharing it.
