I work in Manhattan and I'm within walking distance of both B&H and Adorama. While Adorama is like your local supermarket, B&H is like a warehouse shopping facility. I generally never go to either because I quickly succumb to the 'kid in a candy store' mentality and my wallet just can't take it. But I was wondering what others thought of the shopping experience online. Do you think B&H or Adorama offers the better deals when it comes to pricing and stock? I've bought online from both, but I just thought I'd check in and see what others think about the two, or if there's another photo store that's even better. (I'm an Amazon Prime member, so I do a lot of shopping on there, too.)

Thanks for your input!

I have shopped at both and both are excellent. I'd give the edge to B&H because their web site is easier to navigate. Also, for what I was looking to buy, B&H's price on at least the D7000 camera body was better, largely because they had the new body in stock for $699 and Adorama only had a refurbished body for $639. For the small difference in price I chose to go new. Shipping was excellent and their customer service was outstanding. Both have fast, excellent shipping. If I cannot find it at one site, I will check the other.
I agree that actually going in to the store would be too tough on my wallet.

I got a pretty good shot of this guy, but had to break the "no feeder" in the shot rule. These guys will not sit on any of the branches I've attached to the feeder itself. This one came from high up in a nearby tree...flying straight to feeder and how you see him here. I tried to vignette out the distracting parts of the scene. I hope it's still an enjoyable image.

The picture of the bird is beautiful. I put the feeder out of my mind when looking at the bird.

I would recommend that you rent both for a couple of days each and see which one you like better - to shoot with, picture quality, menu structure, etc. That's the only way.

Great idea!

I am going to upgrade to a new camera and was wondering which would be the best choice, a Nikon D3200 or a Cannon T3i. Both are in the price range that I can afford.I can purchase both bundled at Sams. The Nikon has more mega pixels (24) than the Cannon (18). The Cannon has a tilting led screen that is better for videos. Is there that much difference in the mega pixels for a non professional photographer? Each camera has its plusses and minuses. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with both who would be willing to share. I used to have a Minolta SRT 101 that was all manual so I have some experience in photography. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hafmyne, here is a thought that may serve you well. As others have said, hold each camera in your hands and see which one feels better. It will be a big change from your Minolta. Also, don't fret over the megapixels difference. Then, after you have made the choice, I would recommend going to a community college or night school where they have introduction to digital photography courses. There you can learn how to maximize the use of the camera and all of it's functions. Both camera's are great choices. CNET usually has some great reviews as does Ken Rockwell. Good luck with your decision and let us know what you decided to purchase.

I will like to know if somebody knows this company(bestchoicecamera.com)they have a good dial in the nikon7000.How I can trust this company and how I know they are for real.Thank you

Better Business Bureau rates them F, largely due to advertising issues and unresolved customer complaints. "Google" bestchoicecamera.com reviews and you will see a number of complaints. If the price seems to good to be true, it probably is. The camera they sell will probably be grey market. Personally, I'd stick with B&H, where I bought my D7000 body with a USA warranty for $699 or Adorama, which has some refurbished D7000 cameras for $639. I still have much to learn about my d7000 and will be taking classes and have purchased some reference guides for the camera. Good luck with your purchase.

I think $400.00 is a big difference. I waited until the d7100 came out so I could afford the d7000. If a pro had both cameras and took 15 pics with each and then made 30 8x10's and hung them on a wall I would like to meet the person who could look at those pics and tell which camera took which pics. Just saying.

The D7000 is an excellent camera. Here is an image I've taken with it. I sold the camera to upgrade to the D7100 which is even better in some respects.

Beautiful photo. What lens did you have on the camera?

Note that the Nikon D7100 is over $400 more that the D7000, both bodies only, on B.H. Camera web site. Both are great cameras but there is a price to pay for the newest model. I guess it all depends on what brasil14 wants to do with the camera and if the need justifies over 50% more for the newer model with greater megapixels.

B&H in New York (also see their website) still has new USA bodies and Adorama has refurbished. Happy hunting.

Will some body give some advice I will like to buy the nikond7000,i have a sony330 thank you :?:

If you are interested, B&H has brand new, USA warranty Nikon D7000 bodies in stock for $699. right now. I was considering this and a Nikon D5200 but many people suggest the D7000. The D7000 also has a titanium frame which if you are doing a lot of work, may be more durable. The savings is significant over a new D7100, if you are concerned with budget. I would not worry that much with the difference in megapixels as someone told me anything over 10 for amateur shooters is not that significant. But, depending upon your level of expertise, you may need more megapixels. Good luck with your decision and purchase.

Amber, used equipment will get you the biggest bang for your buck. Both Adorama and B&H have great selections of used equipment at great prices. The two websites are very reputable. If you want a DSLR camera, this may be the quickest way to get there. I have dealt with B&H mostly, and they have an app for smart phones which is really easy to use, and you can browse many offerings, both camera bodies and lenses. You should be able to get something in your price range, or a tad bit more, used. All of their products are graded as to condition and most come with their 90 day warranty. Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

Adorama and B&H are two that I have dealt with and have had positive experiences.

I am looking at purchasing a Nikon factory refurbished lens. It comes with a Nikon 90 day warranty. Adorama offers a one year New Leaf warranty for $7.95. I have never purchased a refurbished lense before so I was wondering if anyone out there thinks the extra warranty is necessary.

I am looking to buy a new DSLR and will definitely go to B&H. I have heard great things about them. Professional photographers have recommended them. When making a purchase, if you are skeptical about the price on a piece of camera equipment, I always check to make sure I am getting a USA warranty, and that is largely because as was stated previously, if it is a Nikon product, they will not repair it unless it is a USA product (accidents do happen). I agree with the person who said that B&H handled this very well.

Refurbished can often be the way to go. 2 of my 3 current cameras are from Cameta as refurbished. One thing to watch for is the Nikon rebates. They can make new less expensive than refurbished. Just do your homework.

Have you purchased any refurbished lenses? How are they warranted? Just asking as I have a limited budget and would like to get maximum payback for my investment. Your thoughts, please.
