View cameras’ swings, tilts and shifts are the major part of the fun of using one! I’ve used a studio type and field type 4x5 with sheet film and several roll film adapters for 6x6, 6x7 and 6x9 formats to take advantage of the flexibility of these cameras. The kickstarter camera, albeit a cute idea, has none of those capabilities.

Why sad????
Flat lighting kills the modeling of the facial structure. ‘Naked’ strobe bulbs are brutal on the skin.

Decades ago I beta-tested Leaf digital camera backs on Mamiya medium format and other 4x5 cameras. Thay have been available for the professional market since that era.

Modularity is a good idea, although clumsy to impliment, I’d imagine.

Modular cameras! In other words, cameras which can be transformed from light and compact to bigger and more complex, and various stages in between. Every aspect of the camera can be altered by attaching a different module. There can be all sorts of special modules available, such as waist level viewers, multiple hot shoes, dual sensors, etc. Instead of buying a new camera to take advantage of the latest technology, you simply purchase a module that incorporates the new technology. The choice of modules will allow you to thoroughly customize your camera to best fit your photographic needs.

Super light weight and size.
What if you could get "big gun" performance from a camera the size of a matchbox and a lens that covered 8mm macro/ micro all the way to 2000mm all at f1.4 of course.

A camera the size of a matchbox would require a completely new interface, my hands are too big to operate it!

I've worked in dozens of commercial studios in the Photo District back in the day, and you'd be surprised at how many simple solutions for lighting, sets and backdrops were built by the assistants for simple money, on the fly.

Hi Ed,
I won't deign to speak for the majority of members here but I'm thinking that only a small fraction of the members are interested in the 2 new sections you're talking about.

Would I like to learn the type of portrait photography you're talking about? Sure, but in my mind that would entail purchasing a lot of specialized lighting, backgrounds, reflectors, etc. The same goes for commercial and industrial photography. I'm not about to do that so there's an extremely small chance I'll ever take a look at those sections.

I know this isn't the kind of reply you're looking for, I'm just being honest with you.

I bought a Britek SP-200 monolight at goodwill the model with the batteries or the cord .I didn't get anything with the unit what do I need to get the flash to work with my d5200 camera how do I connect this unit up to work.Do I have to hook it up to my camera for it to work? where can I get a manual for it. This is the older model. Thanks Jim Bianco
You can slave sync the flash with your on-camera flash as a trigger, or get a Nikon AS-15 adapter to slide onto the camera's hotshoe, then use a sync plug for the flash cord. What type of connecter/flash plug does the flash use? Camera stores have a variety of plugs/connectors for flash units. Did you search online for the manufacturer's website? They could have a download of the manual.

Hey, I’m going this year on Thursday with my previous photo tech. I’ve not been able to go for nearly a decade when I was on staff with a big newspaper chain. Anyone else going?

Sounds like a lot of weight on one shoulder, I often use two bags. Tenba makes some good bags, too. A 70-200mm needs a deep bag

Thanks, found the error in that one custom metadata set. Why didn't I think of that? Another one of my first million mistakes!

Your choice is a function of the subject matter you shoot. If you're doing assignments in the field the 2.8
zoom lens is the better choice. The tripod handle is very useful for distributing the lens weight and holding the position steady, in my experience.
