A few days ago, I posted a link to an article explaining why all attempts to put a digital back on a film camera had failed. Now I see an article about someone who plans to do just that.

Decades ago I beta-tested Leaf digital camera backs on Mamiya medium format and other 4x5 cameras. Thay have been available for the professional market since that era.

Medium format cameras that already have interchangeable film backs are easier to design digital backs for than 35mm cameras where you have to make one that fits where the film would have gone.

Not all have failed, they just didn't sell very well! Leica had one on the market many years ago (a 35mm with digital back-10mp).

Right. Typo. What I had meant to say was, "failed to sell very well." : )
