You just illustrated the issues Nikon had with their 70 to200 f2.8 VR lens and why it has been redesigned optically several times.

Let me guess - you hid because the ship's Captain requested Privacy during the airlift? All passengers were ordered to return to their cabins until the evacuation is completed?

I have two. A shaky one that I bought about 60 years ago and a pretty good carbon fiber one that I bought 12 years ago. The carbon fiber tripod holds one of my cameras. The shaky one holds an off-camera speedlight when I need it. If I had a couple more tripods I could hold more speedlights.

Ever hear of light stands. With the proper adapter you can mount off camera flashes too. Less xpensive than tripods too.

A Canon S50 point & shoot. It could produce 5mp RAW CRW files. Shutter lag was my biggest complaint.

Hi,
Been reading posts for a while and learning quite a bit. One question that has bugging me. Read a lot of posts about "Kit Lenses". My questions are: How does a lens become classified as a kit lens? Are all "Kit Lenses" zoom lenses? Is any lens bundled together with a camera body for sale automatically a Kit Lens? From what I read I get the idea that, in general, "Kit Lenses" are inferior or low quality lenses thrown in with a camera body to make it look like a good deal. Is that an accurate explanation?

Thanks for any info to clear this up for me.
Hi, br Been reading posts for a while and learnin... (show quote)

A lens like the 24-120 f4 has often bundled with either a D750or a D810. It isn't a low quality lens. Same with the 24-85VRII. Most kit lenses are zooms rather than single focal length. The exception would be a 50mmf1.8 as a bundled lens.

I use the 18-300 as my every day lens, no complaints.

BTW: Per the Nikon web site, the TC does not fit this lens.

But Kenko Tele Pro's will.

I've traveled with a Think Tank backpack full of Nikon gear for the last five years with no issues. ! or 2 extra camera batteries are OK, as well as properly packed rechargeables for a grip or flash. The only TSA caution is excessive quantities of lithium batteries. Folks packing for a safari with no charging available for 2 months may have battery issues, but normal quantities are fine. And since the Airlines will only insure "stowed baggage"for $500 you can refuse to have the backpack placed in the cargo hold too!

Wow . . that looks more like a cross breed . . wolf-coyote!

It sure looks like the Coy-Wolf I've seen in documentaries on TV. The cross breeding started in the Eastern US ands the animals are quite successful, even in urban environments.

I shoot amateur hockey at ice level through the glass. Understanding that the glass is marked up and you need to find a clear spot my question should I be putting the lens on the glass itself for better focus? It has a protective filter on it.

Take the filter off and get a rubber lens hood you can press against the glass.

Tatoos are usually listed on a model's portfolio; and most models know how to apply concealer if requested for a job.

As I age it seems that my memory fails me on occasion. A while back, I bought a tripod for travel, but could not find it when I went on a trip. After several months I decided that maybe I only thought about buying that tripod and thought I actually had - so I bought another. Now I find I have two so I'm faced with the problem of which to keep.

flip a coin or list the features of each.

Both good platforms and each has its advantages, although the Mac will be substantially more expensive for the same level of performance and more expensive to upgrade (if possible). How about a different approach - pick the applications you want to run, and then pick the best HW platform to run them on.

Most experienced Mac users don't buy memory or SSD upgrades from Apple. They go to Other World Computing (OWC) or other vendors for upgrade items. The newest Apple machines with all memory soldered to the board have done more for used Mac sales than anything Apple could have done! Someone at Apple is really missing the boat on what Mac users want and expect.

Glad you posted. It is difficult to learn to watch for all the corrections we mention when looking thru a viewfinder and taking a succession of images. With experience your eye gets trained to see more and more details you can correct as you work with your model. Keep up the good work.

You usually need several light sources from different directions to be able to create texture and dimension in your images. One on camera light gives flat lighting. And they all should match in color temp(white balance) too.
