Also, I have noticed that when new expensive cameras come out, used cameras and inexpensive cameras do not suddenly stop working...

There is nothing obsolete about the D750 --I have had one for a few years and it a marvelous, quality camera--and lot cheaper than say the 850, which is probably overkill for 90% of the people who get it---the lenses are more critical to good pics than the camera bodies--I also have a D800 which I use as a backup camera!

I suspect Nikon keeps promoting the D750 for people like me. I have a D610 and love it. But I recently bought a D750. Why? Because it was in my price range and takes great photos. Grateful I didn't have to spring for a more expensive camera to do what I do, and do it well.

Does anybody knows why Nikon keeps promoting the D750 FX camera? This camera is around 5 years old and I would say is already obsolete what is the scoop? And by the same token the D850 which is a newer camera with the latest technology is not available anywhere? I cannot understand the logic I have the D810 trying to upgrade to the D850 but no offers anywhere
Any thoughts/input will be appreciated

Can only tell you that I have TWO D750's and love them. I missed my first so much when it was in for service that I bought another when I found a great deal. Planned on selling the new one when I got the other back but am now keeping it so I have a back up. Use it for sports photography, birding, landscapes, and portraits. Very versatile and great results. Why change what ain't broke.

I also still have 2 D7100's and a D500.

I am a hobbyist with a D500 and D7200 and am looking to buy a full frame. The D850 is not necessary and costs quite a bit more than the D750, especially with the current discount. While the technology may be old by today's standards, cameras like the D750 (and D500, since I like taking photos of birds) do everything I need them to do, and will likely do so for years to come. Mirrorless is definitely the future, but not sure if buying the first generation of anything makes sense. The D750 has been a solid performer for Nikon and they need a reasonably priced full frame (and entry level cameras like the D3500) to attract hobbyists or consumers just getting into photography.

Because you can afford a $1500 Full Frame body, but cannot afford a $3500 product?

Exactly why I just bought a D750.

Does there need to be any logic?
It is an internal decision of Nikon and who knows or cares outside of Nikon why they do what they do.

Perfect trio. D500, 7100, and the 750. These three or the 850?

The D7100 would be the odd guy out. Not as good in low light as the D500 and the (D750,king of low light). The D7100 does not have the focusing system of the D500 (which shares it's separate focusing engine with the D5 and D850. The D7100 cannot compete with the fast focusing system of the D500. Both the D7100 and the D500 can share lenses but that's about the end of the commonality.
For sports and available light the D500 and D750 make a good match but do not share lenses, however FX lenses will work well on the D500.
One could make an argument for a "dynamic duo" using the D500 and D750.
The D750 has the exceed 4 processor and the D500 has the exceed 5 processor. I believe the D7100 has the exceed 3 processor because the d7200 has the exceed 4 processor.
What I am getting at the D7100 was a good camera and still takes good shots but is not in a league with the D500 or D750.
Now a good trifecta could be the D500, D7500, and the D750. Maybe. But a better DYNAMIC DUO would be the D500 and the D850. Both have touch screen which is a game changer when it comes to editing.

I finally bought a D850, originally as a backup to my D810. I bought it off the shelf at my local camera store. As soon as I bought mine, they ordered another to backfill the empty space, and I noticed the other day that they still have a D850 on the shelf.

The D850 is an 'evolutionarily' good camera, but it is not 'revolutionarily' different from the D810, at least in terms of fundamental photographic capability. As I gradually learn more about some of its features, though, its status is slowly rising with me, and is my first choice in an increasing number of situations. Flicker reduction, focus stacking, and negative conversion are all very cool features that are useful to me. If not for them, a new D810 (still available from several sources) might have been a better choice for me.

A lot of folks on this site and in my circle of colleagues have and continue to use D750s. They produce great images.

The key, in my mind, is to separate out "need," "want," and "marketing hype," and make a sensible decision around meeting your photographic requirements and fitting within your budget. Good luck as you work your way through the maze.

They are still promoting and selling D750 because it's in a category of it's own (targeted more to advanced amateurs or ..wedding photographers), not a predecessor to D800 and D850 (targeted more to pros or landscape )
The chart from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Nikon_DSLR_cameras explains it better.. (even that is not entirely correct, because D750 is nor really a succesor to D700).

D750 is unique in that it has a "semi-pro" body but some controls/buttons targeted at beginners (A/P mode, scene modes). D800 and D850, like D500, don't have a dial dedcated to A or P mode.

Sorry but your pictures are now obsolete. You must buy a new camera and start over

I would guess that for >90% of users that the D750 is plenty of camera. It is more than capable for most situations, its 24MP sensor is plenty large enough in fact that size +/- still shows up in new releases (Z6). It might be 4 years old but it is definitely not obsolete.
