I think the D750 body with the battery grip for $1396 makes it a very good buy.

Does anybody knows why Nikon keeps promoting the D750 FX camera? This camera is around 5 years old and I would say is already obsolete what is the scoop? And by the same token the D850 which is a newer camera with the latest technology is not available anywhere? I cannot understand the logic I have the D810 trying to upgrade to the D850 but no offers anywhere
Any thoughts/input will be appreciated

It is a simple question of economics 101. The D850 has been out of stock for a while, why? Demand is high. As long as demand is high prices will not come down. On the other hand demand for the D750 has gone down, so, the price has dropped. Comprende?

Exactly! The D750 is a very capable camera. Just because a new model comes out doesn't mean an older model doesn't take good pics anymore.

Congratulations! Last week I called Adorama and B&H both told me to go ahead and order it but it would take within 3 to 4 weeks and they will not charge my credit card until is shipped. I decided not to do that for now; also I had look locally at George camera here in San Diego and they do not have it in stock I was told that if I wanted to order I needed to leave a $100 deposit and wait around 3 weeks to get it
Most likely I will wait until next year to get it

This has been a wasted exercise. You have the opportunity to order from B&H at zero dollars until you receive it. Your other choice is to lay up a hundred and that scares you.

B&H shows the D850 in stock and ready to ship. Good luck.

Ordered my D850 from B&H last Wednesday and received it on Friday.

Marketing is a mystery and always will be. Supply, profit, and demand play a large part in how manufacturers promote their products. The D750 might be four years old (end of 2014), but it's great for taking pictures, which is what I do with mine.

I think right now the D750 is the lowest price full frame DSLR.

I think irosales is a complainer. You buy what's available or you wait. They are all good cameras
from D610 to D810. Some are getting old but it suits many people.
D750 is fine with most people. You don't want it, don't buy it.

It just may be possible that the D750 reached a certain standard that delays its obsolescence beyond normal. Not that I have any problem with its shutter, but, the only thing I might want to change on mine is the new shutter technology that the D850 has. I don't want to change its 24mp sensor; (sometimes, I get 34mp, at max res RAW), and I prefer its versatility, (built-in flash, tilt-able screen, light weight, high DR, reasonable price etc.) to any other FF camera out there. The 5 years since its introduction haven't diminished its value as a fine photography machine in the least. On the current special deals, it is 1/3 the price of a D850, but certainly is NOT 1/3 the value.

Only buy what you need. These are completely different cameras. The D750 is a lighter camera with a 24 MP sensor. The D850 is a beast with 45MP, but some people prefer the look of the "larger" pixels on the D750. Other people dislike having pictures so large that it uses up their hard drive and slows down their post-processing.

The D750 also has a built-in flash with a guide number of 12, which is pretty hefty for a fill-flash. If you want fill flash on a D850, you have to carry around an external flash or a reflector.

The D750 can be bought new for $1400. The D850 is almost exactly twice that much, even though many people would rather have the extra $1500 than the extra features. If I were buying in to Nikon right now, I would get the D750, and spend the "leftover" money on a week vacation.

If money is no object, I am still not sure I would buy the D850. Once you get up into the $2900 price range, there are other cameras to consider, including some pretty solid mirrorless competition not only from Nikon, but from Sony and Canon as well.

I think obsolete is not quite a valid term for the D750. If the camera was an excellent camera with image quality, handling etc. when it was new. why wouldn't it still be now?. Depending on what kind of photography one likes to do, more bells and whistles aren't always desirable. Let's not forget purchase price. Just my two cents worth. As we know, two cents hasn't bought much in many decades!.
