I've had a Shark for around 7 yrs. Got it at Bed Bath & Beyond. I recommend them, never any problems. Only one slight annoyance is the container is a bit small. I understand they have fix that on the current model.
When they first appeared they were poo poo'd as Dyson wanna be's because of similar engineering. I've stood beside people in checkout lines at places where people are buying their third or forth Dyson replacement ,some people never learn, and suggested they get a Shark instead, and some people have decided to give it a try.

I have had a Miele Canister for 12 years with zero issues. Built like a tank and replacing bags is not a big deal for us.

I've had my Miele also for over 12 years. Trouble free. Works like a charm.
If it ever dies, I'll buy another.

I have had to buy only two vacuum cleaners in the last 33years. Both were Kenmore canisters. Now I know they "don't make things like they used to", but just saying, two in 33 years is pretty good.

Kenmore canisters consistency get high ratings by Consumer Reports, too. Used to be when you were buying a Sears tire, you were actually getting a Michelin. I wonder who makes the Kenmore canister, for Sears?

I would not trade my Rex Rainbow for any other vacuum. The absolute best and I have had many different vacuums. Another extremely good one is a Filter Queen.

It seems a little mad to pay over $3000 for a vacuum cleaner.

Forget all those expensive vacs and get a rolling shop vac. My favorite so far is the 14 gallon cubic shaped Shop Vac which I bought at Lowes.

We have two corgis. They shed a lot and our house is about 4000 sq. feet so it's a lot of vacuuming. Even with the body of the vac filled with dirt and dog hair it retains powerful vacuuming force and is very easy to move around.

In fact I usually leave it plugged in at a convenient corner plug at the end of a figure eight coiled 100' extension corner and just role it from room to room.

Plus, with its rugged, most powerful motor you'll find on ANY vaccum this thing is amazingly inexpensive.

We also have several smallish area rugs and when I can't stand it any longer I get desperate and vacuum all the dog hair up from the rugs by dragging the wand across the rug. It's a little more tedious but it gets ALL the hair up which none of the other vacuums we have will do. (We have em all. Hoover, Miele, store brands, etc.) I empty the shop vac about 2 times a year and hose out the dirt compartment, put in a new bag, and it's good to go for another 6 months. Even after the bag has burst the dirt compartment holds a lot so I just keep using it and it works wonderfully.

We do have hardwood floors so first I use one of those wide floor mops like they use at the big box stores to get most of the dog hair, etc. up but then I use the shop vac to clean the mop and go around the edges to get what the mop can't. This takes about 10 minutes every few days.

I am looking for a new vacuum cleaner. I have had 2 Dyson's. Not worth the money (in my honest opinion), Elextrolux, Bissell, Hoover. I am tired of throwing my money away on disposable vacuum's. Everyone tells me that canister's are better than upright's for picking up dirt.
I went in to a local Sew & Vac shop in Rhode Island. The woman was trying to be helpful, but her 3 year old son spent the entire time knocking over vacuum's and boxes of filters. He was a terror and I couldn't focus on what she was saying. I wish I had my camera to take a before and after shot of the sales floor. It looked like Hurricane Irma and Jose hit the showroom.

We have a Miele upright which is great for carpets (not so great for hard floors) and a Miele canister which is great for hard floors (not so great for carpets). The upright scours up pet hair and leaves the carpet fluffed up like it was just cleaned.

We have had a variety of vacuums by the big names, but our standby is a very old Electrolux, with the all metal body. There have been no spare parts for for many years so we are tetering on a thin edge.

I am a vacuum cleaner freak! Every brand, every type, even backpack and robotics. There are lots of choices, so alot of "buyer beware" to avoid. Rainbow is definitely a gold standard...just get tired of cleaning the separator everytime and NOT for quick pick ups. Screw Dyson...what a joke and misleading marketing. Miele is good. Love our Elecroluxes. Sears is good. Roombas are good for light maintenance between vacuuming, not for replacing of course. The cheap Hoovers and Bissells etc are a waste of money for sure. That said, I LOVE the upright, handheld, SHARK! Everything it says it does, IT DOES! Powerful, light, long cord, manuevers easily, and a great price! I haven't tried their full size, but have no hesitations. You'll find you don't use your full size vac very much...and BTW, the 14 gallon wet-vac? They work well, strong etc, but changing bag every 6 months? Gross!

Get a Sharp. Had a Dyson purchased from Costco and loved it but just after a year a part integral to it's function broke. Replaced the part at a premium and it only lasted a couple of months. Works great if it doesn't break, lol! Overpriced for that reason. A Shark works just as well and for about half the price for a comparable model. Haven't had any issues with ours for a couple of years now.

Unless there is a good filter in the vacuum exhaust air flow system, e.g., HEPA or near HEPA, you are only recycling the dust vacuumed up. Anyone with allergies, etc. will appreciate the clean exhaust coming out of a HEPA filtered vacuum cleaner. It will not result in recycled dust on everything after you just vacuumed. We have had Miele vacs for the past 17-18 years and have not had any significant issues. The HEPA replacement filter is around $70+ but it will result in a cleaner house. Just my opinion.
P.S. A good shop vac with a HEPA filter would be a good purchase as well.

I agree the Miele is better for main vacuum. I'm talking about using Shark Rocket for quick, lightweight, easy to use, for quick clean up!

We've been using Riccar uprights at home and the church where i used to work for more than 15 years. We found them highly dependable. Very few repairs.

Of course, the shark is a third of the price!
