Maybe it is a generational thing, but I was raised to respect rules and to cherish the beauty of our national parks and monuments. I cannot tell you how many times, hiking in the San Gabriel Mts in Southern California, 1 2 to 3 miles into a trail, I see spray painted graffiti on rocks. Why?
I hear you. I have a real love/hate feeling about today's era. As a teen in the 60s, I was an avid camper. Couldn't wait for the weekends to get out of the city and into the desert. My buddies and I might be back in some remote location, accomplished with my old VW bug, and not see another person. Today, there are people and 4X4 vehicles everywhere leaving a trail of their trash and crap behind. Forget about going out on 3 day weekends. It's just too much of a zoo out there.
