Just to point out, many reference the national parks as ours. They are no longer; the Government in their infamous wisdom gave them away to foreign entities. Check out the signs posted at the entrances; been going on for over a decade now! Just another injustice done to the American people by the bafoons in Washington.

Besides being incredibly stupid and self-centered they are incredibly lucky. Look at the picture. The ground is covered by mineral deposits. What you can't see is that the mineral deposits extend OVER THE BOILING WATER. You have no way of knowing where the land stops. Would have served them right if they'd discovered that for themselves.

I've shot the spring about every two years for twenty years, watched grow into a dome. This is not new, just that these individuals were caught. When tour buses unload you can see it all. Drives the park rangers nuts.

Yes, as a Canadian, I can say we have no shortage of idiots like this! The $5,000 they offered to donate is hardly significant. Let's charge them under US law and really make it hurt!! Something like banning them from entering the USA would really but a damper on their business and dumb activities...

It wasn't the first time they'd been stopped and warned by Rangers in the park. If there was a $5k donation I'll bet it involved a Court appearance.
And then there were the idiots who took the Bison Calf into their SUV because they thought it looked cold! Caused it to be shunned by the herd. Couldn't be sent to a zoo due to Federal Wildlife Laws ,so it had to be put down. They were fined. IMHO they should have had their vehicle confiscated for this blatant violation of Park Rules. All the bleeding hearts are upset the calf was put down, but none seem to demand strict punishment of the idiots who caused the problem! People think the National Parks are Petting Zoos!

Wonder what they would have done had they seen wolves eating a bison calf!? Haul out a gun and shoot the wolves? Nature is red in tooth and claw; live with it.

Speaking as a card-carrying bleeding heart liberal, I'm all for confiscating their SUV. Don't "mess" (insert more appropriate expletive here) with Mother Nature. And also confiscate any gun used to shoot a wolf on park land. There was a great video here a few months ago about how the reintroduction of wolves has reestablished a natural balance not only of the animals but of the plants that support the rivers.

I have a deep resentment for liberals that turn off their brain and think only with cheap sentimentality. Yea yea, I know all us liberals always turn off our brains, but you get my point :-)

Since they were Canadian they probably wouldnt have had their guns with them. Canadians have no need to carry a gun when they're on vacation.
Besides, Canadians don't mind wolves.

I don't think it was Canadians that tried to "save" the bison calf? Only those stupid enough to "wander" off the trail into a protected area!

And you're right, we don't mind wolves or grizzlies or coyotes or whatever... as is obvious from one of my most recent trail cam albums (https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipM2CE83lLFlnq4TUcz9b3HygDVUYYHbzfbH12miGOzYdYhhYkGk-grQ2XzdNAGQuQ) which includes all of these critters caught eating a llama in our pasture! :(

Although I am far from advocating that we turn people loose in OUR parks with no rules whatsoever, because I think most of us know how that would turn out, I think that it was funny that the last time I visited Yellowstone, there were many signs dissuading people from veering off the boardwalks since the fragile landscape would be irreparably damaged. These signs were usually surrounded by buffalo hoof prints.

Are you equating those idiots with wild buffalo? Come on, we all know very few buffalo can read the signs.

Really? As a Canadian, I have no knowledge of this kind of thing, but foreign ownership.... Wow

We just visited Redwood National Park in northern California. While I was struck by the beauty of these majestic trees, it seemed every fallen log had someone's initials carved in them.
We have been fortunate enough to visit almost every national park in the west, and while I've encountered some graffiti in most of them, this seemed way over the top.
I just don't understand the stupidity and self centered attitude of some people. patrick

But the few that can read the signs ignore them anyway, so why beat up on those poor vandalizing buffalo...

A few winters ago, we were on a guided snowmobile tour in the park. We stopped at one of the springs to take a break and were going to do a boardwalk loop. As we approached a hill, a group of bison greeted us --on the boardwalk. Luckily they were moving slowly so we beat a retreat and let them have the walkway. Maybe they can read the signs, lol.

😀😀. I didn't mention that my wife and I are visiting Yellowstone in July. I've been - she hasn't. Looking forward to it & yes, we promise to behave.
