OK, I have a feeling I may regret this but I'm gonna risk it.

I agree. Talk about fear and ignorance.

Here's a link to a website giving some of the possible origins and meanings of this nursery rhyme.
https://www.nurseryrhymes.com/rock-a-bye-baby-song-origin-and-meaning/.

Two questions from me.

Is it to be believed that a child small enough to be rocked in a cradle is capable of deducing the meaning of the words in the rhyme?

Is there any statistical data regarding psychological harm that could be done to the child by reciting the rhyme as you rock the child to sleep?

OK, if you insist, I'll start it off.
Younger people won't even know what I'm talking about when I tell you mine. Here ya go.
What mother could possibly think that it would be a good thing to sing the lullabye
"Rock-a-bye baby" to her child????

I mean, the words:
"Rock a bye baby, in the tree top,
when the wind blows, the cradle will rock"

OK, so far so just let the wind rock the cradle for you, right? Are there mosquitoes? Is it cold up there? Who climbed up the tree to put the baby up there in the first place...and hauled a cradle up a tree?

and then, to continue with,...
"When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall,
Down will come cradle, baby and all."

Now isn't that a comforting thought??? That should lull any precious little child to sleep with a smile.
Who EVER thought to write something like that?

I'm not even going to mention Fairy tales. Poor scared little pigs! Hansel and Gretel got the stuffings scared out of them and LRRH's grandma got eaten by the wolf. Maybe "stupid" is not the right word.
What's the stupidest thing you ever heard? br OK, ... (show quote)

Yeah what the Heck, we're picking apart everything else, trying to change history, force feeding propaganda, destroying everything else we grew up on, right or wrong. Soon every letter in the alphabet will be off limits, we won't need mouth to speak with since texting has become the number one way of communication. Maybe the Alien Greys do have it right, big eyes, mouths not needed. With all the goings on in today's society, why not rip apart Nursery rhymes and Fairy tails. Anything else ya got?

On the flip side, the most stupid thing I've ever heard is for those people who refused to get vaccinated because the vaccine had not received final approval to continue to refuse to get vaccinated once it DID receive final approval out of fear and ignorance.

I would love to comment but if this continues the thread will end up in the attic. I don't think that was the intent of this thread.

That might depend on whether or not you subscribe to the theories of L. Ron Hubbard.

You are either part of the solution or part of the problem.
Guess which one you are?

Did they die from the boosters or get t-boned in an intersection? Asking for a friend...

Add to that, maintaining the self-inflicted ignorance without obtaining the most current information, readily available.

Iā€™m sure that unfortunate circumstance would have made the news, at least in Tennessee. Do you have details on their location in the state?
