OK, I have a feeling I may regret this but I'm gonna risk it.

Hey, no apology needed. I was informed a few days ago about a friend near where I lived in Tn, whose two sons went to get their booster shots last week. Within 8 hours both were dead. They were 19 and 22.
I always agree to never judge anyone for their opinions. We own them and we have the right to them.

No vaccine is 100% successfully effective, regardless of the infection treated. Also, at times the "cure" for a virus can kill the host. Vaccinations are attempts to mitigate the effect of communicable diseases.

Opinions can also kill. Judging the opinion is not judging the person. It behooves us to do our own research and come to an INFORMED decision, for ourselves.

PS., Re the young men, I would like to see the official certificates for the reason of death. There is always something more behind the cause.

OK, if you insist, I'll start it off.
Younger people won't even know what I'm talking about when I tell you mine. Here ya go.
What mother could possibly think that it would be a good thing to sing the lullabye
"Rock-a-bye baby" to her child????

I mean, the words:
"Rock a bye baby, in the tree top,
when the wind blows, the cradle will rock"

OK, so far so just let the wind rock the cradle for you, right? Are there mosquitoes? Is it cold up there? Who climbed up the tree to put the baby up there in the first place...and hauled a cradle up a tree?

and then, to continue with,...
"When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall,
Down will come cradle, baby and all."

Now isn't that a comforting thought??? That should lull any precious little child to sleep with a smile.
Who EVER thought to write something like that?

I'm not even going to mention Fairy tales. Poor scared little pigs! Hansel and Gretel got the stuffings scared out of them and LRRH's grandma got eaten by the wolf. Maybe "stupid" is not the right word.

I was raised on fairy tales - it didn't do me any harm.

Well, too many to list here!! However, the lastest was from my .... (a relative) who kept asking "why is it taking so long for this turkey to cook" (as every 15 min. or so, she would open the oven fully to check internal temperature with an old dial thermometer. I was admonished for suggesting the meat thermometer be left in the turkey as it was designed for and observed through the oven window.

I poured myself another glass of wine. Dinner was late. The Caymus Cabernet was excellent!

That’s not only a stupid statement but is also incorrect and a sure sign of ignorance.

Dog-gone it. I made the error of not putting my comment in regarding the issue of moral stories, by continuing to read the further comments. By the way, Aesop's fables are in the same group.

Many tales were made to address activities by the young as dire warnings for making wrong decisions. When, for example, one reads the 'original' version of many fairy tales, the consequences related are very extreme, often. The age of Romanticism came relatively late. It was a form of explaining the unexplainable. The intent was to protect the young, who were not as educated through experience.

Hansel and Gretel ended in the ovens, in the old German version, I believe. (Do not take someone else's property!)

No one told the turkey how long it should have been?

It's a miracle that the humans have survived this long with all of the stupid things they believed in and did as a result. There was a time, just not too long ago, that there was the belief that bleeding a person of "bad blood" would help cure them. Arsenic and mercury were in common use as well. Of course, they had witches that must be tried and if found guilty must be burned and there were beliefs that bodies that would raise from the dead so they take precautions to prevent them from doing so in burial practices.

In times long before that, virgins would be sacrificed to appease the Gods' and to bring rain or to quell the volcanos. This is why there are no longer any virgins today..! 😜

The above quote may qualify among the stupid things I ever heard.

The stupidest things heard today..it’s a tossup between the pro and anti vaccine people each declaring the other side the stupidest people in the history of mankind…vs the far left and right politicians each saying and doing things that are abundantly stupid to the vast mostly center population in the country…then those same politicians declaring the other side to be buffoons.

Although perhaps…to vaguely associate this with photography…those that declare that only a camera of a particular brand/format/mirror or not/zoom or prime/etc(etc can possibly make a good photo and one is not a ‘real’ photographer unless one is using their particular declaration…all the while completely ignoring the fact that the majority of a good image comes from 4 inches behind the viewfinder.

Do you hear yourself saying it "hasn't been tested" when more than half the country has already used it to great success. What kind of "test" would you prefer? Also most of the current patients in hospitals with serious cases of Covid have not been vaccinated....doesn't than mean anything?
I hope you or anyone you love never gets covid, but if you do, I bet you will change your mind.
Stay safe,
Bob

Back to fairytales: I taught a fantasy-lit course for HS seniors sometime back and being raised on Disneyfied pablum, they were all horrified at un-sweetened Bros. Grimm. They weren’t ready for the blood, gore and bodies all over the landscape.

Very thought provoking. I can't get to the remote fast enough when there is a horror flick, so I wonder about how such an evil genre could have so many followers.
