In 1950 I graduated from UCSB, and flew from Santa Barbara (LAX) to Cincinnati for an American Chemical Society meeting. Most recent consequential flight was in March of 2016 from Phoenix to Seattle to Tokyo to Manila.

Spending a lot of time in the Air Force, I flew on nearly every cargo plane in the inventory, prop or jet. However my first flight was a bit of a lark. When I was a boy, one of my favorite TV programs was Sky King. Most of the time, he flew a Cessna 310. One day, I saw an ad in the paper where a pilot was offering scenic rides around Tampa, flying out of the little airport on Davis Island. He had a Cessna 310. That was my first.

1949, while in "ATAL" school NATTC Memphis a shipmate rented an old TaylorCraft and we went sightseeing over and around the city.

C-119 "Flying Boxcar" in 1961. Our Air Cadet "Squadron" was rewarded with a trip which lasted maybe 45 minutes.

1962 on a BEA Vanguard. Honeymoon trip to Rome from Heathrow. Plane is long gone, marriage has endured.

Was 10years old in 1937 when my brother-in-law took me up and we circled the town of Kennett, Missouri in a Ford Tri-motor. Have loved flying ever since.
