from Newark to El Paso (bliss) to defend our country from people like me(Nov 1956 for school (TAS) 44-oe-32), but my 2nd was a charter for xmas leave, was a DC3 back to Newark, seemed to take about 3 weeks, well before jets.
to continue: I looked up DC3: cruises 207mph with a range of 1500 miles, & I remember having to refuel @ Ind, Indiana as el Paso to Newark is about 2100 miles... and it did seem to take three weeks GBG
Coming home from Ft. Leonard Wood after basic training, We are going back there in early December for basic graduation for our oldest grandson.
I bet you weren't riding in a "Black & White" lol.
MDW (Chicago) to DCA (Washington National) to work on an Uncles farm in Northern VA for the summer. Was on an American Airlines DC-6 sitting in front of Joe DiMaggio, still have his autograph, and no Marrilyn wasn't there. About age 14 was allowed to visit the cockpit, got me hooked, watched Lake Erie etc. go by. Worked for 7 years for United Air Lines at ORD line maintenance, office work and in operations. Worked in the industry until retirement, Volunteered at Experimental Aircraft Association Airventure for 42 years. Yes that first ride got me hooked and I still look up as anything aeronautical goes by. Oh some 800 hours in left front seat of singles until retirement. Fun, Fun, Fun. JimM
