La Guardia to DC. The co. I worked for developed stamp machines for the USPS, and we had to set one up so they could test it. (Good ol' 8085 micro with 2K RAM!)

I remember Wake Island—a refueling stop on the way to Okinawa.
Slick Airlines prop job.
I was going to Pittsburgh to visit a pregnant girlfriend at a home for unwed mothers. It was on a TWA Constellation. Four bangers and as noisy as hell. She had the baby that same weekend. I didn't meet him until he was 30 years old. He tracked me down. Quite a story.
My cousin took me for a local ride in a Republic Seabee seaplane that he owned. It was in the early 60's.
On a small seaplane on the Delaware River when I was 10. First commercial was an Electra on the way to Fort Knox, KY for basic training.

9 years old, Vickers Viscount. Guernsey (Channel Islands (U.K.) for a Scout Camp. Big glass windows and low, about 10,000' except for when it went over the Fawley Oil Refinery (or updraught from it). That was fun.
To be honest, I think most of us preferred the Steam Train and Ferry to the same destination 2 years earlier. Looked like Chimney Sweeps when we got to the Ferry for a 4hr crossing on na moderate sea without stabilisation. We loved - I don't think anybody did.

Same here. I was in Force Recon training and we had to go to to jump school. The difference between us and other units was if you survived the first jump you were given a parachute to finish the required number of jumps
I'm almost 70 and never had an occasion to fly. Perhaps I will hire someone to take me up in a small plan for my birthday.

A better story would have been if you were there to help and support your child.
Neither the lady or I (both teens) were ready for marriage. His adoptive family brought him up to be a responsible adult -- school teacher, married once, three kids. They did a much better job than I ever could have.
