The second one is a bit better but could be improved by using the tried and true thirds composition tool. The beetle is too centered and thus somewhat static. By placing the beetle in the vicinity of the upper left intersection point the dynamics of the photograph would be greatly improved. --Bob

I suggest that composition reveals whatever the subject is to best advantage for the viewer, and subordinates distracting secondary subjects and attempts at subjective artistic renderings.
