😂
The 2nd rule is “they are more like guidelines”
The Rules exist whether you follow them or not.
OP- Wanna see a quick edit- It's difficult to write certain concepts? If you give me permission I will post it.
I would like the second with some noise reduction.
My preference would be the second one as the subject, the beetle, is more prominent.
The great Monty Zucker (with whom I studied many times) put it this way “Isolate and simplify” you have a picture of a very interesting insect - let it stop there - you don’t want your background to compete with your subject
I like the second shot best both are nice.

I took a photo of this beetle with a water background. One is more close-up. Which one is a better composition. Please comment, thanks
In the closeup, we can see the star of the show much better ⭐⭐💞⭐⭐

Don't mean to contradict, Paul, but what you've stated is the
second Rule (wif a cappital 'R') of Photography.
The First Rule of Photography is to
claim you know all the rulz, then harp on incessantly about them.
I only mention this because my (your? our? someone's?) advice was
required, and what sort of person would I be if I were to break a requirement/rule?
Oh, and my guess would be #2. Though even that could be improved upon.
The Rules are both ancient and just.
