You’re lucky,
I had a package that started in Maryland, went back and forth between Kearny NJ & Elizabeth NJ a few times. Then it disappeared for almost 2 weeks, popped up in Albuquerque NM, (I kid you not), finally got it after 5 weeks! This was USPS. FedEx lost a camera, and took over 3 weeks to find and deliver a damaged package.

Hi all,

Just venting here about FedEx's latest screw-up. Hubby didn't want to listen, so I'll just get it all out here. (Please note that Hubby placed this order, though!)

Long story short:
April 9 - Hubby placed order with B&H late AM
April 9 late afternoon - received B&H order confirmation indicating April 14 expected delivery
April 12 - received notice that order shipped & April 14 expected delivery
April 12 - 13 - checked delivery details showing order at FedEx in Florence, NJ AM of April 13 expected delivery April 14
April 14 (this AM)- order arrived in Lewisberry, PA 5:17AM SERIOUSLY!!!!! - expected delivery STILL showing as today.

Here's the thing - the nearest FedEx hub to Florence, NJ is 27 miles south in Bellmawr, NJ. Package should then have gone the 80 miles or so from Bellmawr to my home at the southern tip of NJ. But NO - FedEx sends it from Florence, NJ 129 miles west all the way out to Lewisberry, PA in York County. Anyone want to join the pool as to when the package will finally arrive AND the route to get back here from western PA?

BTW - this is a very small package that could have come via USPS!

That's it - vent over!

That service, known as FedEx Ground was formerly DHL. Since FedEx bought it, they have made it worse than it was, if that is possible. IMHO, the ABSOLUTE WORST PACKAGE DELIVERY SERVICE ON THE PLANET. I really wish that B&H would return to UPS, and I have told them so several times. When you ship for free, I guess Money Talks. They are FRUSTRATING as anything and they have made me use B&H as a last resort. Amazon is also far, far better! Best of luck!

I'm with your husband on this one. If the package gets lost or stolen, then you might get some sympathy. But it didn't arrive on the expected arrival date and now for some reason we should all bring out the pitch forks and storm the gates?

Not all the time, but FedEx Ground is terrible overall! OTOH, FedEx Express is quite good, overall!

I often wonder if packages were read and sorted by human eyes, instead of machines reading barcodes and sorting by algorithms, if there would be fewer errors in routing.

Twice I’ve paid for next business day delivery, twice I’ve wait 2-3 business days for delivery. No refund. They don’t feel in the least bit responsible for the delay thanks to the vast majority, like yourself, who accept whatever they give you. No need to respond, we know what you think.

No refund, because you are not entitled to a refund. You paid the merchant to ship via next business day delivery, which they did. THEY contracted with FedEx, so if any refund is due, it’s to them, not to you. You have no contractual relationship with FedEx.

You cannot rely on the delivery date that FedEX posts. Over the holidays, FedEx promised delivery on Sunday. Package arrived late Wednesday night. A worker took pity on me and made the delivery on his way home. This week I got a e-mail dated 4/12 stating that the package would be delivered 4/11 even though the package was not yet in possession of FedEX.

My last order from B&H will be my last order from them. Can't deal with FedEx anymore.

Yeah, they're not the best.

If you must get FedEx delivery, you can have it sent to Walgreens, and you get a credit of some kind, according to an email I received a couple of days ago.

FedEx's delivery system leaves a lot to be desired, and I for one can not figure it out. I am in the Mid-Hudson Valley of NY, about 65 miles north of NYC.

I ordered a battery for a UPS from Amazon Prime, and it shipped from Buffalo, NY. My thought was it would go to the Fed Ex facility in Newburgh, NY, about 11 miles from me. Wrong! It ended up in Middletown, PA. Not so bad I thought, it certainly could go from there to Newburgh next, right? Wrong!

From PA, it went to Hagerstown, MD, and then on to Keasbey, NJ. From NJ, it finally found its way to Newburgh, NY where it sat for two days in the Newburgh facility before it was sent out for delivery. Nine days for it to go 345 miles... leaves a lot to be desired. And people wonder why FedEx has such a bad rep. Go figure.

Fewer errors? Possibly, but delivery time would would increase exponentially.

How do you find out how they ship? Can I request a carrier, I am paying for it. Do I have to receive from whatever carrier?

Merchants choose the carrier. You may have a choice about the timing of the delivery but not the carrier.

Thanks! Ironically, it was delivered a couple of hours ago, but it was still showing as being in Lewisberry, PA. I've complained about the "quality" of service via FedEx. I'm simply told to request a different shipper during the check-out process. At the time. the only way I could see to do that was to pay substantially more for 2 day delivery. We never had a problem with UPS. A few years ago, I needed something delivered from B&H to our hotel in Anchorage. We were arriving at the hotel in 2 days, and would be there only overnight. UPS was the shipper, and the package arrived a few hours before we did. That's great service!

Same experience with Fed"UP"FedEx! Ordered an item from California. (I live in North Dakota) Item was picked up by FedEx, moved to 3 different cities in CA. It sat for three days in the 3rd city in CA before finally moving again. Item sowed up 4 days late. (Damaged!) Shipping box was a mess. Vendor reshipped another item, that one showed up 3 days late. During that same 8 day period, I had 4 deliveries by UPS, 2 came a day early the other 2 were on time.

Sorry you have issues with Fedex. Saturday, I ordered a camera from Ontario, Canada. Monday it was picked up by Fedex, and was shipped from Canada, to Albuquerque. Tuesday, It was trucked up to me, and I got it Wed., 1 day early. I have no qualms with Fedex.

I am honestly happy that you've had better luck with them than I've had. Enjoy your new camera!!
