So, do you trust all the hogs to give you worthwhile advice now!? Some will…

I own mostly Canon gear and some Nikon and Sony but the bulk is Canon so I’m pretty familiar with Canon products.

The weight difference between the T6i and the 80D is just under 5 ounces and the 80D is just slightly larger than the T6i. They’re both 24 megapixel but the 80D has a better sensor than the T6i. The 80D has more functionality than the T6i and a far superior AF system to both the T6i and your 7D.

Personally, I’d sell the 7D, it’s old technology. It’s capable of 1 FPS more than the 80D but the 80D’s advanced electronics will produce a higher keeper rate than the older 7D thus making the extra FPS a moot point.

The 70-300L is a nice lens, I have one. Is your 70-200L f/2.8 or f/4, version I or II, with or without IS? Either way, all the 70-200’s are nice lenses. I take it your 24-105 is the 3.5-5.6 not the f/4.0L. I had the non L version but sold it when I acquired the f/4.0L version. Optically, the non L is almost as good as the L and wide open, slightly faster (obviously). There are now 3 versions of the 18-135, the latest is the kit lens to the 80D; I have all 3. I’m guessing you have the 2nd version, the STM, which was the standard lens on the T4i. Not a bad lens, I use mine mostly for video.

By the way, the 80D does really nice 60FPS 1080P video. Not as spectacular as 4K but believe me, most folks can’t tell the difference unless it’s being viewed on a 4K HD monitor and then it’s not that much better.

The EF-S 10-22 is a really nice lens, in my opinion, one of the best EF-S lenses they make.

You have 10 to 300 or 16 to 480 equivalent (1.6 crop factor) covered with the Canon lenses.

I’d sell the 70-300 non L and both Tamron lenses, they’re redundant. Sell the 7D; unless you collect them like I do, the 7D is no longer of any value to you, so sell it. Keep the T4i and get an 80D. Like I already said, it’s about the same size as the T6i, oh so slightly bigger and only 4.9 ounces heavier. The 80D will replace the 7D, it’s lighter, has more functionality, a far better image sensor and processor and new technology including WiFi, and it’s got fairly decent dust and weather sealing plus an articulated touch screen.

Well said! I also completely agree about the EF-S 10-22

I have the 7D and it is a beast to carry around but I love it. I found that getting one of those "sling straps" that goes over your shoulder helps the weight/comfort issue a lot if I'm walking around with it all day. A $10 strap off of eBay and two safety pins later - I'm all set! It is much more comfortable than having it hang around your neck all day. The "built like a tank" aspect of the 7D is nice, but it is bulky and heavy.

Personally, I think you need to think a little higher, and indulge yourself with an 80D. Yes, it's definitely a big jump in price, but if you have decent lenses, get a current body. If the 80 is too much, take a small step back and consider the 70D. With either camera body you'll get a higher end feature set over the 7D, and you'll also find higher functionality. The move introduces a steeper learning curve, but if you are ready to upgrade, do a real upgrade.

Do you shoot wildlife at all? You might consider selling some of those *-300s and get the new 100-400L instead of the camera.

Probably Not even God or whatever you might believe will be able to help you now!!! LoL
Why don't you get an 80D and just get rid of everything else's! I doubt it's any heavier than a 6t but to be honest, I've never used either one.
Or for a bit less, a refurb 70D. Good luck.

I trust all of the UHHogers so when in need I turn to you. I have a Canon 7d that I will never give up and the Canon Powershot SX50. I also own a Canon Rebel t4i. I use my Rebel for trips and walking around as it is lighter then my 7d. So here is my question I would love to get a new Rebel I am looking at buying the Rebel 6ti (body only I have all my lenses). What I would like to know from you is this. When do you think the Rebel 7ti will come out and should I hold off for that if it is close? There is nothing wrong with my t4i at all just want to upgrade and hubby says I can. BTW need to stay lighter weight as I have a stinking rotten bad back this is why I don't use my 7d for trips or walking around. I was asked what lenses I have here is the list. Canons 70-300 L, 70-200 L, 35mm, 24-105mm, 18-135mm, 70-300mm, 10-22mm. Tamron 18-270 and the 16-300. So you see I really don't need any lenses.

I would buy it now, and you can start using it right away. If a new model comes out next week, put yours on ebay and buy the newer one. As the beer commercial used to say, "You only go around once in life..."

Well thanks everyone I knew if I asked ya'll I would get many of those answers I got. Let me start about the lenses that are duplicates. My sixteen year old granddaughter is into photography. I got her for Christmas the Rebel t5 so some of the lenses I have I will give to her. Someone asked about my tripod I have a Manfrotto with a Gimbal Ball head on it. I really don't shot wildlife anymore so the 100-400 is not needed. I switched my interest over a year ago from landscape and wildlife. I now love doing photojournalism and Street stuff. Nothing to me is any better then looking for a story to tell. Now for the wife swap don't think my hubby would go along with it hahaha. I hate to shop now that I have gotten into photography. So here is what I think I am going to do. I am going to order the 80d from B&H as I love dealing with them. I will as suggested keep the t4i and my 7d. I love this site and I tell everyone that will listen about it.

Right! Do a search on ebay and see what some of those lenses have sold for recently.

If you want a new T6i, don't quibble around with all the know it all's on here, just clickey click on the keyboard, to one of the reputable companies, or straight from Canon, and in a couple days, you'll be enjoying taking photos, with your new camera. There may, or may not, even be a T7i come out. If you live somewhere that still has a 'camera shop', I'm sure they'd appreciate your business too.
