I have heard, as i'm sure we all have, the discussions (arguments) regarding which platform is best.. However, I haven't heard it in the context of photography and would love to hear some opinions.. Since I think we're probably at least 75% PC users I would especially like to hear from any Mac users.. Thanks..

Love my Mac. They actually hire people who understand consistency and usability. Tea is my beverage of choice :-)

For the past 12 years I have used both. For printing faithful to the screen image and best quality I would say Mac. However, it is sort of like speaking English in Mexico. You are just a gringo. Financial constraints etc. made upgrading the PC more economical and just convenient as it is more compatible with a lot of software. However my newer PC has overly bright and gaudy colors, which don't translate well in printing. Everyone loves it for the web, but for making art/photo images it is inferior in my opinion. When I try to get my friends to change the colors on their monitors to better represent the original photo/art I made, they inevitably change it back to get those saturated web colors. I even bought a good monitor but the problems are still there. I am currently working on a PC for convenience as I said but I miss my Mac!

I use a PC but I have heard that the image quality of the MAC screen has to be seen to be believed...

IF I had the cash....I'd "mac-out!"

If Mac were so good, why does Windows outsell it twenty to one? If it were not for the force of the personality of the late Mr. Jobs, it would have an even smaller market share. Furthermore, Apple is moving away from desktop and laptop computers in its retail offerings.

Sure, Mac may be better in many significant ways, but, nonetheless, the market place has weighed in overwhelmingly for Windows.

As a practical matter, either is probably just as good for what most digital photographers do.

Which one's better? Probably Mac. Which one's better to own? I've got to say PC. Walk down the hardware aisles and check out the prices. Walk down the software aisles and check out the number of titles.

My view is that back when it all began Apple focused on the education market (get the children hooked and we'll own them as adults) while IBM went after corporate America ($$$). Then comes Microsoft that said "let's open up the operating system code" while Apple said "no, let's keep it a secret". Ooops.

My best friend and long time PC user just went to Mac and he and his wife both love it. Once I'm no longer tethered to a corporate job I may make the switch as well.

I almost choked on my McMuffin when I read this....

By this logic then Britney Spears is a much better singer than Pavarotti!

I have a pc and a mac both side by side and have been migrating all of my pics from pc to mac because they look so much better on the mac. I have about 28,000 more to go. And Aperture doesn't work on pc's.
