Me too... never - NEVER ! Marcomarks and many others complain about the price of Apple products, but an Apple laptop costing a few hundred dollars more will last twice as long! Quality build!

Mdorn & Marcomarks, PC users everywhere, if you are happy with what you have, may God & Mr. Gates bless you. My iMac, you'll be happy to know sports an Intel duo core processor, and I am happy to admit that is one of the great things about it. So maybe we "can just hold hands and teach the world to sing in endless harmony". A nice thought, as long as you see it my way!!! LOL
This is all a matter of personal preference. You're not wrong, neither am I. Many PC users I know that are happy with their system, are like you, mdorn, in that they know what to do about the blue screen, system crashes, spyware assaults and the like. As a Mac user, all I know and need to know is that it works, so I need not fix it. That, my Morning Coffee, UHH, my Canon, my family and friends, my dog & cat, baseball and a several other great things life offers are what makes me happy, (not necessarily in that order).

When I read your comment, I was going to talk about the entire history of the unit but considering all the subsequent comments, it would most likely bore the hell out of everyone. Suffice it to say when we converted to digital in 2001, I was tasked with the conversion project. We had about half a million negatives in our archives, each with a unique number and all the darkroom work and filing was done by hand and we were using PCs but not for images.

Was and am I a devoted MAC fan? Yup, yup yup and I admit it.

At the time, 3 of us were MAC fluent, 1 was MAC savvy, 1 was MAC huh? and the other was so spooked by technology (Not a very good photog either) that he decided to retire when faced with the digital world.

During the transition, until we got the MACs we had to use the PCs to manipulate and archive image files. The PCs were running XP and we made miserably slow progress. I, of course, led the fight to get the MACs and it took about 8 months to get them in and connected to the network. We took off like a rocket and never looked back. When I retired in late 2010, we were running the top of the line G-5s and were able to bring in an average assignment with 150 - 200 images, upload, edit and make minor corrections, e-mail proof sheets and burn disks in 2 to 3 hours. (Happy politicians)

Is all that a fair comparison? Some would say NO! but the system worked fast, smooth and with very few equipment failures, while other people in the bldg., had a hell of a time keeping the PCs running.

This went further than I intended, sorry if I bored anybody. The controversy may never end but this story just did.

Be well everybody......

I was once told, "The MAC knows instinctively what it has taken years for the PC to almost learn" .............. grin
