I'm working on some photos in LR4 and I can't find the three little boxes, minimize, max, and the red x box. I can't find them.
Can some please tell me how to get them back?
Thanks

Just taking a shot here. Move your cursor to the top of the screen, and they might appear.

Press F11.

If its on the right or left columns, look for a very small arrow on the edge of the frame and click on it. You accidentally clicked on it and hid them. They're just playing hide-n-seek.
Good luck. SS

As long as you don't get the dreaded blue screen with "Fatal Error" message, you're OK ! :)

...Right clicking stuff on top may give you drop down choices you may recognize.

Have you tried grabbing with the cursor anywhere on an edge of LR and drag it down and to the left?

In this case it's actually Shift F which will do the trick for the OP. F just goes from the normal mode to full screen. Shift F will have to be hit twice to get back to "normal" if the menu bar is showing on top without the minimize and close button bar above it. This is on Windows, not sure if Mac keystrokes would be different.

Funny, but for me, it's F11.

In LR5 F11 opens up a secondary Window. I don't recall what it does in LR4. However I believe Shift F works the same way in both versions. What version are you using?

LR5, but I was just talking about Windows and F11.

This thread is about Lightroom, not Windows. Read the original post again.

I was under the impression that Windows had the ability to hide all menu bars (which is what you're talking about).

The OPs question was specific to Lightroom, not Windows. She said, "I'm working on some photos in LR4 and I can't find the three little boxes, minimize, max, and the red x box. I can't find them." This is easily resolved. Shift F is a toggle. If you hit it once the top bar with the close, minimize, and maximize buttons disappears, which is what she is seeing. If you hit Shift F a second time the menu bar also disappears. The third you hit Shift F everything is restored to normal. It differs from the F toggle which goes from normal to full screen and back again. These are Lightroom commands, not Windows commands! She was definitely talking about Lightroom. This is a common "problem' that new( and not so new) Lightroom users run into.

Thank you for your response, even though you did not address the issue or ask if the same problem was present in other programs. The solution you provide is not unique to Lightroom!

Of course I addressed the issue. Based on the OPs very specific question this was a issue with Lightroom, and a common one at that. And, there is a very specific key combination- Shift F- in Lightroom that fixes this. Why would you assume this is more than a Lightroom question?
