Looks like a $200 piece of GAS.

I’m assuming “GAS” isn’t a good thing?’
Have you tried this thing?

I’ve been seeing adds for Tourbox a lot lately and am wondering if this would indeed speed up/make easier my extensive photo editing in Lightroom Classic. Anybody have experience with this? Pros or cons? Should I buy it? Thanks in advance to legit answers to this question, fellow photog’s.

Any other views on flash vs HDR most welcome too.

The problem with flash in real estate environment is competing light temps. You can set “auto wb” but your camera won’t know whether to set wb for your flash (5600k), or the light coming in the window(s), or the led lights recessed in the ceiling, the incandescent lamps, etc etc. you’d need to gel your flash, and or turn certain lights off (which does not make for an appealing real estate photo, no matter how well exposed), etc. just go with the HDR and you won’t have to worry about it. IMO it’s actually faster than setting up/moving a flash. Portraits, yes, you need to work that light... but real estate? You need to get it, get er done, and get going.

Hello Hoggers

I’m new to digital photography. Is sharpening recommended for images shot in RAW format? Is there any reason to shoot in RAW and JPEG?

Thanks

And I forgot to address one of your questions!
I take RAW+JPEG. I do this so I can open all the jpgs quiver and easier for review. In my case, I need to know where one set of photos ended and the next set started, if I did multiple shoots that day. Also, I can identify quickly which sets are auto-bracketed and stuff like that, without trying to open all the RAW files in ACR or Somesuch just to review them. That’s all they are for...everything else...EVERYTHING...is edited from RAW. Now, lots of people will tell you how you’re wasting space on your hard drive but meh, you can delete all the jpgs after the edit, or just keep them like I do. 3 TB drives at Costco are cheaper than a Ti-83 calculator so not a big deal to get more space anytime you want it.
Hope that helps!

Okay Hedgehoggers, I need some help. I just bought a Pentax K1 Mk ii with battery grip. Beautiful camera but damn it’s heavy to be hanging around my neck all day on the chinsy strap that came with it. So, please suggest a better shoulder strap option. I’ve researched a bunch and it seems like a lot of them hang by the tripod mount-hole...this doesn’t seem like a great place to suspend all that weight. Thoughts? Thanks in advance, all.

Just read your article....awesome! I have an expired license and have been dreading retaking that obnoxious test. I like the idea of a couple hours study and an online test. Can you provide more info? I’m on the FAAST home page and can’t find anything on this... thank you!!

I see lots of amazing photos on this site and I don’t often comment, out of pure laziness admittedly, but that first photo with the rainbow had to be commented on...what an outstanding shot! Absolutely beautiful photo.

If you calibrate a laptop then it would only be calibrated for that one spot and that exact same light!

I don’t think you understand the issue...every time I open the laptop or turn it in the brightness is defaulting to 100%. Has nothing to do with whether it’s calibrated or not.

[quote=JD750]I am using a 2013 Early MBP. I have not had that Issue. However your brightness can easily be turned back to the level used for calibration so I don't understand the angst.

Yes, it’s easy to adjust the brightness but it’s a pain in the butt to have to do that every single time I open the lid or wake up the machine. I don’t want to have to pull out calibration tools every time. It’s not supposed to do this so I’m seeking a fix to the problem, not an awkward workaround. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Having an issue and wondering if anybody else is and has somebody found a fix:
I use a 2015 MacBook Pro to process photos with Lightroom, using a second 27 inch monitor. Both are calibrated often. Lately, whenever I turn on or “wake up” my MacBook, the brightness is turned all the way up and I have to turn it down; sort of defeating the whole idea of calibrating it. It is NOT on “auto brightness” etc. anybody else having this issue?
