Was told by an old Rancher in 1972. Once you see scissortails in the spring the last freeze is over. He was 83 at the time. Said that he had seen mesquite trees fooled (old saying that once the mesquites bud out the last freeze is over) 3 times in his life, but never the sissortails. Since 1972 I have seen the mesquites fooled 2 times but never the sissortails.
