Hi "DB25",

Absolutely terrific idea!!

I'm being quite serious - not sarcastic, cynical or "putting you on".

I am actually quite embarrassed not having thought of this myself.

All the best to you and yours,

Good morning Dr. Bob,

Great image but I wish someone could explain to me just what makes this particular Aerostat actually maneuverable (steerable relative to compass heading). I have been flying since I was 18 years old with a Commercial license / multi engine (King Air 350) / instrument and approximately 6000+ hours of flight time and I have never heard of an Aerostat that can actually be "steered" (other than up / down).

Anybody?

Thanks,

Terry

Good morning Gene,

Good one!

I spent a few years in the late 60's and early 70's really engaged in the, then somewhat new, sport(?) of Skydiving. Wonderful (occasionally somewhat non-wonderful) experiences (just a little over 3500 jumps) when the only readily available equipment was military surplus - which meant canopies with a diameter of only 28' (the reserve canopy was only 24') and each and every landing being "interesting" and usually quite hard. Shortly before I gave it up (I just didn't want to spend a big part of my college years in plaster casts) newer type 'chutes arrived which actually made stand-up landings possible for the first time - which made a world of difference in really enjoying the sport.
Sorry, just a bit off topic there.
Anyway, I was going to ask - Was the new jumper a blonde?

I know - politically incorrect - but I loved it

All the best to you and yours,

Terry

Good morning Bob,

Although I am a lifelong fan of monochrome / B&W I really have to say number 1 (colored) is my favorite. Actually a little difficult to discern whether I'm looking at a photo, a watercolor or a painting on canvas. That's probably why we UHH'ers (as well as many other photogs) are so often times subjective and not exclusively objective. Imagination plays a significant part in our wonderful pastime.
Excellent!

Good morning Jim,

Although you are probably well aware - check out Trini Lopez's version of "If I had a Hammer" from 1963. Excellent track. At 73 years of age and having become "musically" aware (several bands/drums and guitar) during the 1960's I always preferred slightly "harder" musical genres but Trini's version just seemed to strike the right chord {no pun intended - I think} with me. Another great tune featuring a perfectly placed/miked cow bell / cymbal bell (hub).

Thanks for the great reminder.

All the very best to you and yours in the upcoming New Year,

Good morning Mike,

Number 3 is terrific! Here in the western part of Minnesota we see this scene repeated many times during the Fall migrations. We are right on the Eastern edge of the Central Flyway so we are quite privileged to be able to observe and enjoy dozens of species making their way South.
Great reminder of how fortunate we are on the Great Prairie.

Good morning Sylvia - from the middle of Minnesota (US),

Absolutely beautiful! For some reason it also looks a little warmer that we are right now (-2 degrees F).

Good morning Dan.

Number 8 is my pick (Mom and little one)! There are, literally, thousands of OK to fairly good "deer", "doe", "fawn", "buck" images and combinations of these on UHH. This one, for a number of reasons is simply one of the best - as far as I'm concerned.
It might be the Aspen/Birch trees throughout the image or the beautiful Evergreen background. Just don't know but it is terrific.
Please keep posting!

All the best to you and yours,

A very good morning Dick,

I did the very same with my Zippo! Same quote. I guess great minds just think alike.
I think it would be fun just to get together with you and other "old" farts and reminisce regarding our past "follies".

All the very best to you and your in this upcoming New Year,

Good morning "JC",

Great post!
I am fortunate in that I still have the Zippo my Dad carried during the his 4 years of WW2 (B-17 co-pilot / 18 missions / Europe).
It is slightly(?) beat up although still functions flawlessly with minimal fuel used and occasional flint replacement.

All the best to you and yours "JC" and a Happy upcoming New Year,

Terry

Good morning "Larelain",

Beautiful image!
Just reminds me (I'm sure I have these thoughts several times / day) what an absolutely beautiful, amazing, wondrous planet Earth we are allowed to exist on - along with the glorious multitude of fellow Earthlings - whether fur, feathers, scales, 2 legged, four legged, finned, invertebrate or exoskeletal. They are ALL our vital fellow travelers (absolutely fellow Earthlings!) and very, very close companions of ours as we make our never-ending way around old Sol and throughout the Milky Way.
Ad Infinitum.
Although it may seem an impossible, futile and fruitless task I feel there still might be some hope (at least in my quite young brain and relatively "old" {73} corpus) of saving the old Girl (said with absolutely all the respect She deserves) and all (at least as many as would be possible) the gifts she has provided.
Sorry, I just got a little carried away there but all I'm trying to say is that powerful and beautiful images such as yours can only help us get our priorities in order and slow down / eventually end our on-going and brutal rape of Mother Earth.
Please keep posting and fighting the good fight Larelain.

All the very best to you and those you hold dear,

Terry

CC Have a great New Year!!

Good morning "PL",

Hard to identify the birds - but are they Sandhill Cranes?
Beautiful shot by the way!
