Using flash? Inverse Square Law

You're about as much help as a rubber crutch. Didn't you read the OP is an amateur photographer? Advice like yours just frustrates and discourages newbies...

Regular electronic flash works fine with IR. You only need IR flash if you want the flash to be less visible. These are IR shots with backlighting and fill lighting from a standard flash.

Nice images, John. Which IR filter did you use? The Super Color? How much Post Processing did you do to get all those colors?

Do you really believe no one has ever placed their hand on the walls of that canyon before? If you've ever gone there did you see anything that appeared to be a handprint?? Those walls are thousands of years old and there is no telling how many people including the American Indians that have used those canyons for shelter and may have even lived there for a short time. I really don't believe a handprint will destroy or leave any type of lasting mark on the face of that canyon wall.
Just my thoughts, David
Do you really believe no one has ever placed their... (show quote)

Posting photos online showing inconsiderate behavior only encourages other people to do so. Obviously one handprint will not show damage, but the cumulative effect of continuously doing so will eventually present a problem. Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the Don'ts issued by the National Parks regarding the "Leave No Trace" principles.
Here is one about the Navajo Slot Canyon:

"What are the don’ts of visiting the Antelope Canyon?
Don’t bring selfie sticks or tripods unless you have booked a photography tour.
Do not touch the canyon walls. The landscape is preserved naturally and the oils from your hand can spoil the formations.
Also, you cannot smoke and throw waste around the canyon. It’s considered holy ground by the Navajo tribe and insults their beliefs.
There are no restrooms at the canyon location. So you’ll have to plan your affairs accordingly."

So to answer your first question, No, I don't really believe that no one ever placed their hand on the walls of the canyon. I only know that I didn't.
And to answer your second question, Yes, I've been to the slot canyons several times... and I am careful to always follow the Leave No Trace Principle.

When I was involved with a club we usually had a different judge each month. What was interesting was that every club could send a number of photos each month to a county competition. At the county level there were three judges. One time in three years all four judges agree on one of my photos. Whether they agreed or not some of their comments were helpful.

Why were there four judges that one time?

We did Grand Canyon in the morning, then drove to and did the Upper Antelope Canyon and made it to Monument Valley by sunset, all in the same crazy day. But it was amazing. There are Upper Antelope Canyon tours all year unless weather forces then to close. These three shots were all made the same day. Sony A9 camera. Sony 24-105mm f4 lens. Next time we will do Horseshoe Bend.

I'm sorry to see the photo of the girl placing her hands on the walls of the canyon and depositing oil from her hands on the sandstone. It will leave a mark that will be there forever.
