Canon G7 MkIII or G5. Sell the 850 if you find that it isn’t useful.
I agree, that it is the most impressive photo of the year! The effort and skill came together and produced a really spectacular photograph! Thank you!!!
Those were the days! Photography was science and art. You could meter off of the palm of your hand for a half stop plus. Push your Tri-X to 800 or 1600...Understand the Zone system to capture dynamic range. We had manual focus, shutter speeds and aperture settings to get the photo that we had pre-visualized. Remember shooting Kodachrome 25 & 64, and getting a little yellow box back with 36 precious exposures, a week later?
We can do the same thing now, using a digital camera on the manual setting! Perhaps with the exception of ASA 25 or 64. Plus with live view, you don’t need a Polaroid to test the shot, and the ISO range is amazing.
I miss my old LunaPro, and love my Sekonic for helping to keep photography a science and an art.
Thank you! What a beautiful moment, and well worth your effort.
This bridge was seriously damaged by hurricane Irene in 2011. It was replaced by a steel structured bridge platform, and great efforts were involved in the recreation of this illusion. All that the new elaborate structure does is hold up the roof, and look like a covered bridge!
Vermont does actually have real covered bridges through out the state.
Alan,
Thank you for a very clear description of the Canon G series cameras! My everyday carry camera is the G7 II and it is always at the ready. The 1“ sensor allows room for cropping. It is a great camera for “digital information gathering”. I use it so much that I forgot that it didn’t have the little view finder, and was surprised to find that my Z6 actually has one!
Get a G7 and enjoy it!
You may want to try dimmable 2700K, 90+ CRI LED lamps. They are available in 3 different beam angles. For a basement, with a ceiling height of 7’-6”+/- and a ceiling track placed 18-24” from the wall, a wide angle lamp would work well for an even coverage. If you want gallery lighting, WAC offers some very cost effective line voltage track and head selections that will give you high quality lighting. They offer baffles and mesh back screens to minimize spectral highlights, in various finishes.
Why is the sensor smaller than the D780 or Z6?
I like the the second photo, right down the middle of the Ben Franklin Parkway to City Hall!
The PSFS building is a few blocks behind City Hall. Nice photo!

That is actually Wm. Penn. If you look closely, you can see why he is called the Father of the City...
If it were shown as the same vertical scale, the red line would be 3 feet high!
