Enjoy your time in Portugal. You will find free wifi is very common. You might be able to just use WhatsApp on Wi-Fi and not bother with an e-sim. Be careful in Lisbon for pickpockets. Particularly Rossio Square. Note in restaurants they bring you bread cheese etc before you even order but it is not free. You can say no and they will not be offended but some places try it on a bit with tourists.
Generally you will probably be surprised how cheap things are in PT.
