Cameras are like guns. It's all about who is using it. Even the smartest cameras cannot take a picture without human direction. Not all photographers are artists. In fact most are not. Most photographers, particularly "amateurs" are in it for the mechanics of the camera, which are considerably amazing, as well as the task of recording memories. The advertising budgets and marketing skills of the big brands bare this out. The artists of photography are basically amused at all the hype and tend to stick with the glove that fits. But the mechanic lovers make up a very dedicated and valid segment of serious photography and don't need lectures on their focused interests, like I am doing now.
2019 ( as well as 2018) does not support Canon RP RAW and I cannot tell when they will. There are plug-ins but they are beyond my limited amount of time to learn.
