An interesting set.
It's amazing how Mother Nature copes with situations.

I see so much of Mother Nature here that leaves me stunned it’s still living.

A rather tragic end of a living tree.
Seeing this, would make me try to save it if I lived close?
Thank you for sharing, Marsha!

From what I am told they have tried to fill the opening under the roots several times over the years, but the tides just wash the dirt away. It’s a Sitka Spruce and just amazing.

You are welcome. My photography is no where near good enough for this site, but I’m here to learn and I love sharing the beauty of the PNW😊

Interesting set. I like #1 the best, except for the cut off tree top. Second choice would be #7 Vignette it a little to disguise the one limb clipped off on the top right an I think you would have something.

Oh I have so much to learn, but having fun learning 😊 7 wasn’t vignette, my friends hand got in the way, didn’t crop it good enough lol

Amazing how this tree still lives! It has sunk in from a few years ago, but hopefully it will stand for years to come so others can enjoy.

welcome to the site and to Washington. did you know that the Olympic Rain Forest is only one of three temperate rain forests and the only one in the northern hemisphere?

a rain forest is defined as 200 inches of rain per year.

"HO River Backwash"

Thank you! Everyone is so kind and helpful here!
Washington...I fell in love with this state while spending 3 months here in 2017. I went back home to Wisconsin and missed Washington so much, packed up 8 months later and moved here.
I did know that about the Rainforest. Hall of Moss in the HOH is my favorite place to hike.
Yes lots of rain, Forks gets more rain a year than any other U.S. city, 78 inches. But, the rain brings a whole new kind of beauty😊
Your picture is beautiful!

My offer is still open if you are near my location. We don't hike as much as we use to but maybe meet at a beach park. My wife could rockhound while we shoot pics. We'll be here till mid April, then moving to OR coast for the summer. PM me if you're interested.

Sorry for not getting back sooner, been a busy few days and just got back on hedgehog today. I live in Forks. This week is bad as I have commitments. You don’t know what you are getting yourself into lol. As I said I’m quite confused with a lot and because of my stroke, my memory isn’t the best. Still up for it?? Lol. Don’t know if you have made it this way, but lots to see, beaches, rainforests and hiking trails 😊

Welcome to the forum. Your general questions are to numerous to answer with one reply, but note that when you use my lens at 1600 you will need a tripod that is as sturdy as a concrete block. Then it would also make a big difference to raise the mirror ( do not know if an option on your camera ) to eliminate any vibration when taking the shot ( the elk at 1600 for example ). As mentioned above, is the lens sharp?
Now the thing that Is confusing me is. You stated in the original above that the lens is 420-1600, but when you list the data for the shots it makes no sense since they all say taken below 420? Keep asking, there is great help available on this blog. Good luck and have fun.

Welcome to the forum. Your general questions are t... (show quote)

I have a decent tripod but I’m thinking it’s probably not what I need. As I said my first digital so didn’t want to go with expensive equipment for a newbie. Tripod was only $60. and I see them as high as $200+.
Sorry for the confusion on the lens. That is 420-800 with 2x adaptor. I honestly don’t remember on the photos what they were shot at. Guess I should write that all down before asking for help. Bare with this newbie please 😊😊😊 Thanks so much for the advice😊

There are several courses online that provide cheat sheets in a very portable version. I always have them with me, in case my brain implodes and I forget how to do something. Nice to have. I can send you the links if you’d like.

Thank you, I’ll take all the cheat sheets I can get 😁
