Sorry but Los Alamos is up toward Santa Fe and White Sands is down toward Alamosa in the south central part of the state. There's an area north up the highway from Alamosa called Valley of the fires that is an ancient lava flow area and also the highway going up toward Cloudcroft goes by a large abandoned railroad tassel and a lot of nice mountain scenes.

Pulitzer Prize-winning Photographer David Hume Kennerly has put out a great book of a self assignment he came up with a few years ago where he made a bunch of really great photos with his IPhone. It's titled
"David Hume Kennerly On the iPhone: Secrets and Tips from a Pulitzer Prize-winning Photographer" and it's worth the time to get a copy and take a look if you are at all interested in seeing just what you can do with a camera in your cellphone.
