Any religion that calls for some sort of uniform, physical alteration to the natural body or regulation of food consumption is idiotic. Seriously if there were some higher power why would it care if you had skin on the glans of your penis, a hat on your head, shaved your face, or ate meat on Fridays. These are simply moronic traditions that are the equivalent of rain dances and blood sacrifices. You really need to grow the F up and see the world for what it is natural and beautiful in its entirely random existence. As far as morals are concerned you can be good without the fear or retribution if YOU feel you can't then that is your issue and maybe you're not really the person you think you are. for more information on how to be a good person without religion look up humanist...

i really dread posting this, because i know that i'm going to get HAMMERED but, here goes:

After reading a lot of the back and forth arguments going on here, (yes i actually plodded thru it!) i can honestly say that i do understand where the folks like Rixpix are coming from. i Praise God that i am NOT religious, because RELIGION is man's vain attempt to please God through doctrine and tradition. RELIGION is satan's vaccination against Christianity. it's NOT about religion. it's about relationship. i don't celebrate ANY holidays. i do, however, participate in Communion because Jesus said do this in remembrance of me. i read my Bible because i want to know more about my Creator and to have a closer relationship with Him.

Rix - after much thought, i hope that you will accept my apology. You wrote "Whatever floats your boat. But to believe in such things seems childish to me." Well, i should have taken that for the compliment that it is instead of the response that i gave you, because nobody can come to Salvation, except that they open up their heart and come to the Lord, trusting, like a little child.

Catch ya all later. i'm heading out the door to Church shortly. i go there because i ENJOY it, not because i have to or are commanded to. Thank You, Hal, for the many thumbs-up that you gave me earlier in this thread for one of my posts. Love You ALL! see ya!

It was an experience that i am not able to put into mere words, though it was totally awesome. After going through something as life-changing as THAT, there is no way that i could EVER deny that God is alive and Jesus Christ is for real. You will probably call me crazy; well that's your right to do so, and it won't bother me one bit. i know that i know that i know that i am a Blood-bought Child of God and royal Heir to His throne, and i know where i will spend eternity when i depart this earthly realm. What happened to me was NOT a myth or a figment of my imagination. i only Pray that everybody could experience what i did, but God gives us all different experiences when we come to really know Him since His ways are greater than our ways. After going thru that kind of experience, i can NEVER deny Him, no matter what adversity is thrown at me. It's not about religion, it's about personal relationship. Once You truly have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside you, you will forever have an inner peace that nobody can ever take from you. It's truly wonderful.

Whenever I hear or read someone's personal story of how they found or was found by god or jesus or whatever, I generally suspect there is an underlying condition that led to the revelation. More often than not the person in question had a drug or alcohol addiction issue and has substituted a religious addiction in place of the harmful behavior. Is this true of you? The reason I suspect this is true is due to the fact that you chose to go completely off-topic which was how the Republicans are warming up to the idea of gay marriage. This action by you is symptomatic of someone with a psychological imperative (to tell one's story that is off topic could be seen as a sort of psychosis).

Rix, no, i did not have a drug or alcohol problem. i didn't go off topic, you did - in the post with the humanist poster that you put up there, which just SCREAMED at me to post what i did, lest anybody out there who is undecided buy into that Godless deceitfulness. I actually thought that i was perfectly fine and was going to heaven BEFORE i had my Supernatural Encounter with the Holy Spirit. It took somebody to speak to me of the things of God via His Word to make me realize that i was NOT, in fact, "okay". Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

i don't understand why you humanists and athiests are so suspect of things that you have no knowledge of. The fact that you get defensive when it comes to this particular topic shows your true intolerance. i suspect that you are a liberal, Rix... i have noticed that most liberals are very closed minded and intolerant. liberals say that they are openminded but get all angry whenever somebody says something that they disagree with.

i don't think that you're a bad person. It's just so sad that the god of this world (satan) has you totally blinded to the truth of good vs. evil. i guess you'll find out who was right when you breathe your last breath this side of eternity... because man IS an eternal being, his soul NEVER dies. enjoy yourself now while you can, dear Rix.. because this life right now is the closest to heaven that you will ever get, lest you open your eyes, heart and mind up and REPENT. Somehow i think that your stubborn pride and intolerance will keep you from doing that. Instead you'll go on, making snide remarks and insults. Whatever. That's your choice. the devil just LOVES it when one soul turns it's back on the great Creator.

Whatever floats your boat. But to believe in such things seems childish to me. I am sure that the Aztecs, Mayans, Ancient Greeks & Romans all had the same amount of faith and belief that you possess. To me your religion is as valid as theirs.

there you go calling names again. "childish". like i said before, don't knock it until you've tried it.

Notice that the aztecs, mayans, ancient greeks and romans all died out. Believers in Jesus Christ have been around for 2000 years now.

I am all for gun ownership and have one, often carry have a concealed permit, etc. Additionally had 43 years in the military.

But if you own a gun be careful. In the military we keep them in armories because they are dangerous and not toys.

1. Guns are used in most suicides: According to a 2011 report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide was the #10 cause of death in the U.S. with 38,285 deaths reported. Of those suicides, guns were used in 19,766 cases (52%). Restricting access to guns may not impact the suicide rate, but then again it might.

2. Guns are used in most homicides: The same report states that homicide by gun represented 11,101 deaths, 70% of total homicides. The annual homicide total in 2011 was 15,953.

3. Guns take innocent lives: Accidental firearm deaths accounted for 851 funerals. It may seem a small number considering the total deaths for the year exceeded 2.5 million, but if your family member was among them it would have been a tragic loss.
http://www.policymic.com/articles/21002/gun-control-debate-6-chilling-facts-about-guns-in-the-u-s

In 2008 there were some 15,500 accidental shootings.
http://www.thesurvivorsclub.org/extreme/surviving-accidents/accidental-shooting

Guns are dangerous. They do not belong in the hands of sick people nor people who do not know gun safety like Dick Cheney!

Thank You, Ol Sarge. i agree, firearms are not toys, nor do they belong in the hands of sick people. by sick, i mean mentally unstable. but since there are so many out there who are not 'quite right in the head' who have access to firearms illegally, i at least want to have the option to defend myself and other innocents if needed. i do have a healthy respect for all firearms.

i have been around them all of my life, so i do feel comfortable around them. Surprisingly, even when my emotions have been running high (when - and i'm talking WAY in the past - somebody's been giving me a hard time or wanted to pick a fight, even though my .45's in my pocket, it has NEVER crossed my mind to pull it out.) i understand it's use for DEADLY force, and i PRAY that i am never in a situation where i will need it.

That said, i want to personally Thank You for serving this great country of ours. God Bless You for writing that blank check with your very life for Uncle Sam. i salute you.

Great Valentine Candybo. I wish I had your collection, but can't find much ammunition for the ones I have.

@jr1. I'm glad you are not a US Citizen and that you don't live here too. Sorry for your neighbors though. They probably wish you lived here.

Thank You, Lacsar, and i want to personally THANK YOU for serving this great country. I salute You Lacsar, as well as all Veterans (and current active duty). God Bless You for writing that blank check with Your very life for our country! (oh and - just so you know - these aren't mine - though i do wish it was my collection - i found this pic on the internet and just wanted to share it with those of us who LOVE the 2nd Amendment.)
