It is the sign of the times. Add SI to your list that went to bi-monthly publishing and released most of their photographers. Netflix and Disney are moving to AI.
We fired live rounds in RVN. Salute batteries fired blanks
I would have guessed the photo was older.
One point I was trying to make was how difficult it sometimes is to capture the inscription and match the color of the marker. On the East Coast in the Petersburg Battlefield Cemetery, there were many things you could learn by the way the statues were displayed. Here in a local small country cemetery, you can see how this country was built from the names on the marker.
It is so difficult to plan a course because of the skill levels of today. I was working with automation (word processing) as a teacher's aide in the 2nd grade. MSFT kids were so smart. Their computer skills were out of this world. Others were just totally lost. I assume you will be using digital. I once took a class in Germany that included taking turns with the camera on a walking tour. The company developed the film and provided us with photos. and You could choose subjects like show motion, portrait, animal, etc., and then sit around the computer and have the photographer tell how and why he took the photo the way he did. Have them bring photos they like and talk about how they were taken. It would be great if you had a darkroom. That magic is sadly gone.
I am a member of Findagrave. I photograph local grave markers. I have found it is fun to get the marker's lines square and correct for color in Photoshop. Trying to correct for weather-caused defects is sometimes a challenge. Using a cell phone adds GPS data for relatives. I thought this might be an interesting way for children to learn photography.
In the old days, I carried film in mine. I might use 20 rolls for a game. I have one if you are interested.
I had problems with Photoshop after an update. I logged into Adobe help and a techie fixed it after I allow him to share my computer.
I do have negatives that I took with I was eleven. It is interesting to see what I photographed - I am not sure why. I have negatives that are from when my grandfather photographed my mother as a baby in 1917 with his Signature Kodak. Most of my travel shots are in some trash dump but I saved MacArthur giving his Duty Honor Speech, Nikon in Vietnam, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles. I even have a photo of Mickey Mantle batting at West Point but the negative has disappeared. My 5-terabyte external drive is nearly full. I have notebooks full of negatives that refresh my memories of the last eighty years but I didn't save everything. Interesting that the White House photographer does save everything for history.
That was funny. Back before MSFT and the internet we were building a computer system for the Army maintenance system. We asked the programmers to add a record counter in the program to give us an idea of how long the program would take before it was through. We were using test bed data and when we went live the numbers stopped before the program finished. We learned that the programmer had just run a series of numbers to look like it was counting records.
I have a Topcom Super D with three lenses, and many of the film Nikon film cameras. Also a half-frame Canon in working condition and a Signature Kodak that was my grandfather's.
Just act normal. I am not a lawyer. I was doing an assignment in Richmond, Va for the opening of school. I shot from my car window and one child told an adult and the police tried to find out who I was. When they learned, it was not a problem. On the other hand, we had a photographer in Washington shooting from the bushes. Not recommended. I just did a canoe race with handicapped youth and was asked to get their permission before I put any on the web. I shot a lot of wide art in Virginia. (Photos with just captions to fill spaces.)
1/1000 F2.8 18000 ISO 70-200mm shot in raw edited with ON1
Agree with your comments. I use a D500 with an 80-200mm and 1.7 extender. He should put the ISO on auto. I use ON1 and have shot at 18000.
I use a 1.7TC-17II with the 70-200 and am very happy. It gives me good reach with little loss of light.
