I could make a very long list of illegal, unethical, and immoral activities of doctors and the medical profession.
Not all, but enough.
Sorry my friend, medicine is a business, no different than any other, like car salesmen, lawyers, and even priests. Everyone is subject to the human condition and temptations and human frailties.
So in the context of Corvid-19, while there are probably many doing good, I am just as certain of the opposite, for wh**ever the reason, pressure, politics, ideology or profit.
And I, for one, am not willing to sacrifice freedom for so called safety.

Like you said, assuming a free country..and common sense. Big assumptions.

Funny Thing

I just read an article stating that (some) doctors are being pressured into placing cause of death on death certificates
as CORVID-19 when the real cause of death was an underlying condition such as heart failure etc.
Under other circumstances, that is what should or would be put on a death certificate.
Sounds like pressure to artificially raise the Corvid-19 numbers for "other" reasons and objectives.
It is the old tune, "don't let a good crisis go to waste".

No doubt that Corvid-19 is real and dangerous, but the disease is being used to promote alternate agendas.
And still, we don't know where/how Corvid-19 started.

Ok, going back to my corner again....

It seems to me it has become less about medicine or science and more about control.
Common sense is gone. Personal responsibility is gone. Individual rights are going away.
All in the name of so called "safety".
What will come next. I for one, don't trust where this is going.
Can you say authoritarian control?

Old Buffalo Springsteen Song ("For What It's Worth")

"There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's s time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down"

What I've experienced so far, using the optical zoom to the largest extend and cropping on the computer yields better, clearer results than trying to accomplish very long zoom shots with digital zoom on the camera, especially with the smaller camera sensors. On the short closer shots, the digital zoom doesn't have that much of an issue.

I might add it is important to understand you particular camera's limitations and and design parameters.
For me, that will come with experience and experimentation.
Everything is a trade off.

I am testing the same issue now as well.
From my experience, and also have read, optical zoom is better for quality photo's either in raw or jpg.
Digital zoom works but at longer distances and long zoom lengths, much quality is lost especially in lower light.
Basically, digital zoom is no different than cropping and/or resizing a photo on the computer, at some point the pixels start to blur the shot.
Optical zoom is all in the lens, so as you zoom in, there is little if any, loss of photo definition and quality.
On my Canon, There is a viewfinder indicator that shows when the digital zoom takes over and a loss in image quality.

That may me an oversimplification however, I am still learning but that's the best I have so far.

Drop one of those nuts and it'd have a big impact for sure.
