Wonderful photos--please post more--my grandfather was a Sandhills cowboy in Nebraska in the early 1900's.

In Nov.2011, the McAllen Tex. Symphonic Band produced a slide show with music entiled "Echoes of the !800". We visited a number of museums and found some interesting pictures dating back to the Civil War and beyond. The Amon Carter museum of Fort Worth Tx. gave us some pictures taken by Erwin E Smith who was first a cowboy and later a photographer. Smith wanted to capture the life of the working cowboy. We don't know what camera he was using and I thought some of you might enjoy how it was done before digital. I have over 300 shots from the slide show collection (slide show was about 15 min.) and I could make a weekly presentation if there is interest. The following pictures were taken in 1900.

I have noticed a robin hanging around our front porch the past few days. Yesterday I caught her flying away from the wreath we have on the front porch. Checked it out and found this. Really cool!! I plan to take more pics as things progress.

Keep your distance! I got my eye on you!

This is a great place, glad I found it.

Well hidden!

Nice and deep, her eggs will be well protected.

Pretty wreath--and functional also.

just my thoughts--All the pics were great, thanks tea8 for making this contest-- for the 1/3 that got no votes (including mine), don't forget you could have voted for your own pic--lol--I voted for the pic I liked and the vote tallies did not influence my vote. I would like to be able to vote for more than one as there were so many great photos. I'm sure this will be worked out in the future, until then keep shooting everyone!

I feel sorry for the roughly 1/3 of the pics that didn't get a single vote. That being said, I'll probably enter the next contest. I wonder if the vote tallies attached to the pics influenced the outcome...

Here's some I took today--1 little tree in the orchard was in full bloom, the others were just starting to pop out. There was some wind blowing so they may not be as sharp as they could be.

Welcome to Day 107 :) .. It's Macro Monday's ..Don't forget that closeups count.
Y'all know I usually do flowers .. but today I decided to go completely off the wall. It's kind of scarey how some things look really close up.

Welcome to Day 104 :) It's Funny Fridays ... so let's see that humor.

I have a kind of funny story that goes with mine. I went to the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Farm... paid to get in then went back to my car to switch my head band for a sun visor... and proceeded to lock my keys in the car. 40 miles from home and we only have the one vehicle. LOL ... Luckily for me there was a locksmith standing right next to me (he had just moved to Tucson 2 wks ago) and he managed to unlock the door .. and didn't charge me. He was pretty cool.
This ostrich farm has Donkeys, Deer, Goats, Ostrich, and Lorikeets (birds) that you can hand feed. This is the coolest place I've ever been to .. definitely going back with the hubby so he can feed them and I can photograph it better.
